CAROWINDS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

1. Can chaperones take their child home with them, or does he/she have to ride the bus back to HMS? Students can ride home with their parent, however chaperones MUST stay at the park until 8:00pm to return their student groups back to the buses. All chaperones will have a small group of students assigned to him/her for the duration of the trip (morning leaving from HMS until 8:00pm dismissal from Carowinds). All adults will be needed for the duration of the trip for the safety of our students. If the chaperone has driven his/her car separately and wishes to follow the bus back home (at 8:00pm) after dropping of his/her group at the buses, please provide a written note to Westbrook/ Beddingfield letting us know that you will not be riding the bus home.

Parents who are NOT a chaperone, but have come to Carowinds on their own accord must also provide a written note to Westbrook/ Beddingfield prior to departing Hawfields MS in the morning (you may send this note with your child during the week of school preceding the field trip). BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE PARK WITH YOUR CHILD (non-chaperone parents) YOU MUST CALL/TEXT WESTBROOK OR BEDDINGFIELD INDICATING THAT YOU ARE LEAVING. We will be keeping track of a list of students who we should not expect to see on the bus ride home, and will check your name off as you call/text.

2. Can I (as a chaperone) drive separately or do I have to ride the bus? Parent/chaperones may drive separately. All students must ride the bus to Carowinds, but may ride home with their parent (see above question for more details).

All chaperones must meet at the bus in the morning to receive important information about the day, admission tickets, lunch tickets and drink bands. When the chaperone arrives at Carowinds, they should go directly to the bus. Group members cannot enter without a ticket and Mrs. Beddingfield and Mrs. Westbrook must register the group before entrance.

3. Can students ever leave their chaperone? Student must stay with their chaperone for the entire time at Carowinds. If a parent/chaperone decides to not ride a rollercoaster with a group, they may stay back with select members not riding or may watch students’ belongings. The parent/chaperone are expected to collect all in their student group before leaving the exit of the ride. Bathroom breaks should be supervised and students must easily be able to locate their adult chaperone after brief breaks.

4. What should students bring into the park with them? Students need: Money for dinner (at least $15 dollars) Any money wanted for extra snacks or souvenirs …. Keep in mind students will be provided with a buffet lunch and all drinks (already paid for) Sunscreen Students should wear: Hawfields Music Carowinds shirt, khaki pants or shorts, comfortable shoes that do not easily come off (b/c of rides) and SHOULD BE DRESSED READY TO GO AT 5:00AM AT HMS (GARRETT SIDE!!!!!) Students may bring their cell phones/ electronic devices, however understand that no party at HMS, parent/ chaperone, or vendor is responsible for the safety of these items. Band students need instrument, all accessories for their instrument (reeds, valve oil, ligature, neck strap, mouthpiece and music

Students do NOT need: A change of clothing is not necessary or encouraged, however, if you must change pants, you will need a bag to carry your khakis around the park. Chorus students will not return to the bus until 8:00pm. Money for lunch (already provided…. See above) Extra drinks (already provided with drink wrist band- will be unlimited) To keep items on the bus after pickup following their performance (see time on itinerary)….
