DISTRICT 24-D TRAVELING LEO VISITATION Awards, Rules and Guidelines July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016

The purpose of the Traveling Leo is to encourage friendship, fellowship, sharing and FUN!

MINIMUM NUMBER OF LIONS REQUIRED FOR A TRAVELING LEO VISIT:  Clubs with membership of ten (10) or fewer members as of June 2015 MMR – 2 members.  Clubs with membership of eleven (11) to twenty-five (25) members as of June 2015 – 3 members.  Clubs with membership of twenty-six (26) or more members as of June 2015 – 4 members.

VALID VISITS  Credit will be earned only once for visiting an individual club during the Governors fiscal year beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2016.  Visits during regular meetings, Charter, Installation, other Social Celebration, or DG Visit allowed.  Visit during a Joint meeting allowed and counts as a visit to Host club of the Joint Meeting.  Visits during other Zone, or Region Meetings are allowed.  Visits coordinated with the clubs President or Secretary at least 48 hrs prior to the visit (a week if catered). A final cut-off date between clubs can be negotiated.

AWARDS

MINIMUM VISITS TO QUALIFY FOR THE TRAVELING LEO PATCH:  Clubs in Zone A, B, C, D, E, F, G & H must visit at least one clubs in each of four (4) different zones. One visit to a club within own Zone does qualify.  Clubs in Zone I must visit at least 4 clubs in any zones, including Zone I.

TROPHY & MONETARY AWARD  Visit one club in all nine zones.  Earn the most points. o One point per one-way mileage o Points are based on MapQuest fastest route one way miles from your club’s address to the visited club’s address. o Bonus points: . 50 points for crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge . 10 points for crossing the Coleman Bridge (over York River) . 25 points for visit in excess of 100 miles one way GUIDELINES PUNCTUALITY  Visiting Lions must be present at the time the bell is rung to begin the meeting and must remain until the meeting is adjourned.  Traffic back-ups at bridges, tunnels and major highways will be judged on an individual basis by the Host Club or Traveling Leo Chairperson & the District Governor, if necessary.

RULES OF CONDUCT:  Lions Code of Ethics shall be followed.  No “special fees” shall be imposed on the Traveling Leo club beyond usual fines.  Cost of meals to the Traveling Leo Club shall be no more than the cost of the meal to the host club members.  Visiting Lions are encouraged to be seated next to host club Lions or another visiting club member. Visiting club should not be seated as a group among themselves.

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TRAVELING LEO CLUB:  Coordinate Traveling Leo with clubs President or Secretary, Zone and Region Chairs.  Have at least the minimum number of Lions required for a Traveling Leo visit present for the entire meeting.  Ensure all traveling Lions pay for their meals at the time of visit (no charging).  Bring the completed Traveling Leo form at the time of visit. It’s the responsibility of the traveling club to have the form with them. Send a copy of the form within two (2) weeks to the Traveling Leo Chairperson as identified in District Directory.

RESPONSIBILITY OF VISITED CLUB:  Agree, whenever possible within the listed rules, to the request for a Traveling Leo visit.  Certify on the Traveling Leo form the visit of listed number of Lions.  Assist in any seating arrangements to allow for mingling of the host and visiting club Lions.

CONTROVERSY: Controversies will be resolved promptly by the Traveling Leo Chairperson in consultation with the District Governor.

MONETARY AWARD: The Wards Corner Lions Club sponsors the Traveling Leo Contest and awards a check to the winning club. Their rules and requirements for the use of the funds will circumvent any policy stated in this letter. Funds awarded to the winning club must be used for 501c(3) charities. Funds cannot be used to reimburse travelers, pay for meals, gas, oil or tolls, or any other non- charity expense not previously approved by the Wards Corner Lions Club.

ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM: On the Achievement Report, your club will receive fifty (50) points for each official Traveling Leo visit. The Host club will receive twenty-five (25) points for hosting a traveling club. To receive the points, they must be reported on the official Achievement Form.
