MASON MCCONNELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This Scholarship is in memory of Mason McConnell who was a long time agriculturalist and a strong supporter of Vocational Education, and Agriculture Education in particular and a strong believer in the youth of our country and the strength of the local, state, and national organizations of young people. The Mason McConnell Memorial Scholarship is offered through the Kiwanis Club of Ravenna to a qualified Portage County High School senior or graduate in the hope that it will be used wisely.

CRITERIA & GUIDELINES

1. Applicant must be a student in good standing with or a graduate of any Portage County High School. 2. The Mason McConnell Scholarship consists of $500 to be made payable to the Institution for the recipient. Evidence of enrollment in and acceptance by any school of higher learning, to include four year, two year, or trade school shall be provided prior to payment. 3. Selection will be based on the attached application and selection of recipient will be made by the Scholarship Committee of the Kiwanis Club of Ravenna. 4. Application will make himself/herself available for an interview by the Scholarship Committee if requested. 5. Application shall be complete and submitted no later than April 1st, of the year which the application is made. INFORMATION REQUIRED AS PART OF YOUR APPLICATION

Completely fill out the attached Mason McConnell Scholarship Application, including all required signatures. Include our letter of recommendation from a high school or college academic advisor or counselor. Please type or neatly print with black ink when filling out the following application. You may recreate the following scholarship application using a computer. However, you must use a legible font and minimum font size of at least 12 point.

SELECTION PROCESS

Selection of Scholarship winners is based on participation in leadership or other experiences (30%), extracurricular activities and community service (20%), scholastic achievements and letter of recommendation (20%), future plans and potential success (10%), and financial need/special circumstances (20%). Submitted applications will be reviewed, and selected candidates may be asked to participate in an interview before the Kiwanis Scholarship Committee.
