Conditions for admission to the master’s study programme Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology in the field of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology at the Faculty of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology of the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno (VFU Brno), for the academic year 2017/2018 in English language

According to § 49 sect. 5 of the Act no. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on the Amendment and Supplement to Some Other Acts (the Higher Education Act), I hereby publish the conditions for the admission to studies for the academic year 2017/2018.

Conditions for admission to the studies are: - completion of full secondary education, - secondary education acquired at a foreign secondary school (apart from Slovakia) has to be documented by a certificate of equivalence or a validation clause, which are issued by school departments of the local authorities, submission of the application (in electronic form) to study and related appendices according to schedule determined by the Dean of the faculty, the term is 31st May 2017. In case the maximum number of admitted students is not filled, the Dean may announce another date for the submission of applications for study. Should there be the second round of application submitting, the deadline is 21st August 2017, - confirmation of the applicant’s health fitness for study in a written form. This confirmation must be certified by a physician - provider in the field of general practical medicine or practical medicine for children and adolescents.

The Faculty of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology VFU Brno is setting according to § 49 sect. 1 of the Act no. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on the Amendment and Supplement to Some Other Acts (the Higher Education Act) these further conditions for admission to studies: - appropriate knowledge of biology and chemistry. This knowledge is verified by the entrance examination, which consists of written examination in biology and a written examination in chemistry based on the content of respective textbooks for secondary schools. The written exam in biology has a form of a test, which consists of questions and multiple choice answers and questions that are to be answered in one or more words. The written exam in chemistry has a form of a test, where the answer is a concrete formula, chemical equation, scheme, drawing or solving an arithmetical problem. The biology test contains a total of 37 questions; a correct answer is valued 1 point, thus the maximal result in the biology test is 37 points. The chemistry test contains a total of 17 questions; a correct answer is valued according to its difficulty 1-3 points, and the maximal score that can be obtained is 37 points. The maximal total number of points from both biology and chemistry tests is thus 74 points. The duration of the written entrance tests from biology and the chemistry will not exceed 120 minutes. - the admission procedure will be carried out in English language.

For the academic year 2017/2018 I determine the highest possible number of accepted students to the first year of study at 24. The applicant can not be admitted to the study programme of the Faculty of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology if he/she is already studying in this study programme. Admission to studies shall be decided on the basis of the order of the total number of points obtained within the admission procedure for the entrance examination. An applicant can not be accepted if he/she has acquired less than 10 points in the written test from biology or chemistry.

The terms of the entrance examinations are 25th June 2017 and 8th September 2017. In case of serious reasons for which the applicant cannot come for the entrance examination in proper time, the Dean may allow the applicant a substitutive term of the entrance examination. If the number of applicants who fulfilled conditions laid down for admission to studies will be less than 10, the study programme will not be opened. The applicants will be informed immediately.

The decision will be issued in writing within 30 days from the verification of fulfilment of conditions for admission. Applicant may request a review of the decision within 30 days of its delivery. The applicant is entitled to check all of his/her materials that are relevant to the decision on his/her admission, at the study office of the faculty after the day when the decision of his/her admission is announced to him/her.
