WEEK 1 (January 5-8)

SKILL: Review the first four career ready standards covered in the first semester.

OBJECTIVE: The students will review the habitudes learned in the first semester as well as revisit their personal vision statements.

PREPARATION: On Monday, January 5, all students will set their personal goals for the semester. Have the students tie in their personal vision/mission statement to their goals.

On Tuesday through Thursday, January 6-8, review the first four Habitudes discussed in the first semester. Look through your career binder for ideas on lessons that could be used that you did not use. WEEKS 2-3 (January 12-22)

SKILL: Habitudes standard—Immigrants and Natives.

OBJECTIVE: The students will read and discuss “Immigrants and Natives” from the Habitudes book. This chapter covers the standard utilizing technology.

PREPARATION: Read the standard on pages 48-51. Feel free to use the curriculum provided in our career binders.

WEEK 3-4 (January 26-February 5)

SKILL: Habitudes standard—The Sun and the Moon.

OBJECTIVE: The students will read and discuss “The Sun and the Moon” from the Habitudes book. This chapter covers the standard models ethical leadership and effective management.

PREPARATION: Read the standard on pages 56-60. Feel free to use the curriculum provided in our career binders. WEEKS 5-6 (February 9-19)

SKILL: Habitudes standard—Seeds and Fruit.

OBJECTIVE: The students will read and discuss “Seeds and Fruit” from the Habitudes book. This chapter covers the standard attends to personal and financial well-being.

PREPARATION: Read the standard on pages 64-68. Feel free to use the curriculum provided in our career binders. WEEKS 7-8 (February 23-26, March 2-5)

SKILL: Habitudes standard—Tappers and Listeners.

OBJECTIVE: The students will read and discuss “Tappers and Listeners” from the Habitudes book. This chapter covers the standard communicates effectively and appropriately.

PREPARATION: Read the standard on pages 72-77. Feel free to use the curriculum provided in our career binders. WEEKS 9-10 (March 9-19)

SKILL: Habitudes standard—3-D Glasses.

OBJECTIVE: The students will read and discuss “3-D Glasses” from the Habitudes book. This chapter covers the standard uses critical thinking.

PREPARATION: Read the standard on pages 82-86. Feel free to use the curriculum provided in our career binders. WEEKS 11-12 (March 23-April 2)

SKILL: Habitudes standard—Soloists and Symphonies.

OBJECTIVE: The students will read and discuss “Soloists and Symphonies” from the Habitudes book. This chapter covers the standard works productively in teams and demonstrates cultural competency.

PREPARATION: Read the standard on pages 90-94. Feel free to use the curriculum provided in our career binders. WEEK 13 (April 7-9 )

SKILL: Habitudes standards review/catch up week.

OBJECTIVE: The students will use this week as a review or spend it catching up on resumes from the first semester, etc. This is a short week and several students will be gone for activities. WEEKS 14-15 (April 13-23)

SKILL: Habitudes standard—Brands and Labels.

OBJECTIVE: The students will read and discuss “Brands and Labels” from the Habitudes book. This chapter covers the standard manages personal career development.

PREPARATION: Read the standard on pages 98-102. Feel free to use the curriculum provided in our career binders. WEEK 16 (April 27-30)

SKILL: Review/Evaluation

OBJECTIVE: The students will review the habitudes standards and take an evaluation over career period.

PREPARATION: Students will need to take an evaluation. The link will be provided for the survey. WEEK 17 (May 4-7)

SKILL: Appreciate the Seniors Week.

OBJECTIVE: The students will appreciate their seniors and write thank yous to them.

PREPARATION: Seniors need to prepare a short speech on their future plans. These plans will be presented to the entire student body on Wednesday, May 6.

Underclassmen will write a thank you to the seniors in their career period for their help, leadership, and support throughout their year(s). These will be given to the seniors on Wednesday, May 6. Thank you cards will be provided. Write the thank yous—not typed. WEEK 18 (May 11-14)

SKILL: Study Week

OBJECTIVE: The students will use this time to study for finals.

PREPARATION: The students will have this opportunity to study for final tests.
