HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

Accidents will be investigated to ensure that, by determining the causes, lessons can be learnt and working processes amended, as necessary, to prevent further injuries occurring. Accidents shall be recorded and Investigated. . top ASSESSMENT OF HAZARDS AND RISKS

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 specify a requirement for risk assessments to be carried out of the work of the Instructors. A risk assessment is an examination of a specific area of work to determine whether substantial hazards (with a potential to cause harm and a probability that harm will occur) are present and, if they are, whether suitable control mechanisms are in place to prevent that harm from occurring. For the purpose of this policy, risk assessments can be defined in three categories: generic, specific and dynamic.

Generic risk assessments have been carried out for the main areas of work across the organisation , where basically the same type of work is carried out. This has been done to ensure that, so far as is reasonably practicable, any risk of harm to personnel has been:

 removed wherever possible;  reduced to an acceptable level where it cannot be removed; or  other steps have been taken to safeguard the well-being of personnel and others who may be affected . top

The generic risk assessments will ensure that all personnel facing certain hazards and risks will receive the same degree of protection. However, it is recognised that the degree of some risks will be greater at during certain aspects of training than at others. Instructors will take care to emphasise the safety points of training excercises
