ELECTRICAL LOCKING SYSTEMS 08745 - 1 1. Use Architect's door numbers on schedule. 2. Schedule may be combined with submittals required in other door hardware sections. 3. Description and Sequence of Operation of each electrified door hardware function, including location, and interface with fire alarm, access control, and security systems as applicable. Include description of component functions that occur when authorized person wants to enter; authorized person wants to exit; unauthorized person wants to enter; and unauthorized person wants to exit.

C. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including installation instructions.

D. Operating and Maintenance Data: Include operating, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair instructions for each item, with lists of spare parts, if any, and name, address, and phone number of local stocking distributors.

1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

PART 2- PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

A. Acceptable Manufacturer: Security Door Controls (SDC), 3580 Willow Lane, Westlake Village, CA 91361. 2.2 MATERIALS

A. General Requirements: Provide devices suitable for door type, lock type, frame type, dimensions and overall operation. 1. Coordinate with doors, frames, and hardware specified in other sections. 2. Provide all brackets, spacers, shims, lip extensions, strike boxes, and other accessory parts necessary to complete the installation. 3. Provide all necessary components to supply power to devices from building power distribution system.

2.3 ELECTROMAGNETIC LOCKS ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The following are direct-pull type electromagnetic locks with holding force of 1650, 1200, and 650 pounds. Delete all that are not required. If more than one type of lock is required, give each a type designation and indicate type on Door Schedule.

A. Electromagnetic Locks, 1650 lb Holding Force: SDC 1511-1542 Series locks shall be surface mounted and include all necessary mounting hardware. Core shall not contain any epoxy-resin, and consist of steel laminations welded in a steel U-Channel. The

Holding force shall be 1650 lbs. 2. Locks operate with 12 or 24VDC power input without field selection. Current required shall not exceed 670 mA @ 12VDC or 350 mA @ 24VDC for single lock and 1.34 Amp @ 12VDC or 700 mA @ 24VDC for double lock. 3. All field wiring connections shall be via on-board screw terminal connections. Magnetic lock shall contain printed-circuit board providing circuit and surge protection. 4. Locks shall be BHMA Certified Grade 1 ranking. 5. Locks shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories as Auxiliary Locks (GWXT) and as Burglary resistant electrically operated door locking mechanism (CVXJ). 6. Locks shall comply with UL10C standards for positive pressure fire rated doors. ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The following paragraphs are optional. Delete if not required. 7. Locks shall have a door position switch (DPS) to allow monitoring of the open/closed status of the door. 8. Locks shall have a magnetic bond-sensor (BA) circuit to allow monitoring of the strength of the magnetic field between lock and armature. 9. B. Electromagnetic Locks, 1200 lb Holding Force: SDC 1571-1572 Series locks shall be surface mounted and include all necessary mounting hardware. Core shall not contain any epoxy-resin, and consist of steel laminations welded in a steel U-Channel. The winding and electronics to be contained within the aluminum housing and be replaceable without removing the lock from the doorframe. 1. Holding force shall be 1200 lbs. 2. Locks shall operate with 12 or 24VDC power input without field selection.. Current required shall not exceed 250 mA @ 12VDC or 125 mA @ 24VDC. 3. Current required shall not exceed 440 mA @ 12VDC or 220 mA @ 24VDC for single lock and 880 mA @ 12VDC or 440 mA @ 24VDC for double lock. 3. All field wiring connections shall be via on-board screw terminal connections. Magnetic lock shall contain printed-circuit board providing circuit and surge protection. 4. Locks shall be BHMA Certified Grade 3 ranking. 5. D. Electromagnetic Shear Locks, 2700 lb Holding Force: SDC 1565-1566 Series locks shall be mortise mounted and shall be provided with all required mounting hardware. Shear Lock design shall incorporate shear stops to prohibit horizontal shear motion. Units shall provide for both lateral and vertical field adjustment. Model 1566 shall be capable of being fit into 1-1/4 inch face frame. 1. Holding force shall be 2700 lbs. 2. Locks shall operate with 12 or 24VDC power input without field selection. Current required shall not exceed 800 mA @ 12VDC or 400 mA @ 24VDC.

E. Electromagnetic Shear Locks, 2000 lb Holding Force: SDC 1561-1562 Series locks shall be mortise mounted and shall be provided with all required mounting hardware. Shear Lock design shall incorporate shear stops to prohibit horizontal shear motion. Units shall provide for both lateral and vertical field adjustment. Model 1562 shall be capable of being fit into 1-1/4 inch face frame. 1. Holding force shall be 2000 lbs. 2. Locks shall operate with 12 or 24VDC power input without field selection. Current required shall not exceed 650 mA @ 12VDC or 350 mA @ 24VDC.. 3. Locks shall incorporate automatic relock with 1 to 5 second delay relock timer, and shall include circuitry for voltage kickback suppression. 4. 2.4 DELAYED EGRESS LOCKING SYSTEMS ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The following describes various models of delayed egress locking systems. Delete all that are not required. If more than one type of system is required, give each a type designation and indicate type on Door Schedule.

A. Self-Contained Electromagnetic Delayed Egress Locking System, Visual/ Verbal Annunciation: SDC 101S, 101D, 101T Series locks shall be surface-mounted and include all necessary mounting hardware. Lock core shall not contain any epoxy-resin, and shall consist of steel laminations welded in a steel U-channel; all electronics enclosed within the housing; all exposed surfaces plated or anodized. Locks utilized on doors with mechanical latching hardware shall be activated by slight movement of the door and shall not require a switch input from the mechanical hardware for activation. Signage required for use of delayed egress shall be provided. 1. Holding force shall be 1650 lbs. 2. Locks shall have a digital display that visually indicates status and provides a countdown of seconds remaining until door release. Locks shall have an audio speaker; 85db minimum output; and shall generate verbal status and countdown messages. Speaker shall be an integral part of the delayed egress unit and shall not be accessible when the door is closed. 3. System shall have input for automatic release upon activation of the Fire Life Safety System; Request-to-Exit input; outputs for egress alarm and locked/ unlocked status; key switch for reset, momentary authorized egress and on-off. 4. Locks shall operate with 12 or 24VDC power input without field selection. Current required shall not exceed 820 mA @ 12VDC or 500 mA @ 24VDC for single lock and 1.5 Amp @ 12VDC or 850 mA @ 24VDC for double lock and tandem. 5. All field wiring connections shall be via on-board screw terminal connections. Magnetic lock shall contain printed-circuit board providing circuit and surge protection. 6. Locks shall be BHMA Certified Grade 1.

System shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories (FWAX Special Locking Arrangements), and shall also be compliant with NFPA 101 Special Locking Arrangements, and UBC Special Egress Control Devices. 8. PART 3-EXECUTION

ELECTRICAL LOCKING SYSTEMS 08745 - 32 2.12 EXAMINATION

A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

2.13 INSTALLATION

A. Install each item according to manufacturer's written instructions, utilizing proper fasteners provided by manufacturer.

B. Items for fire doors shall be installed conforming with NFPA 80, and all other applicable building codes and regulations.

C. Set units level, plumb, and true to line and location. Adjust and reinforce attachment substrates as necessary for proper installation and operation.

2.14 ADJUSTING

A. Adjust and check each operating item of door hardware and each door to ensure proper operation or function of every unit. Replace units that cannot be adjusted to operate as intended.

B. Test for proper operation with building power energized; coordinate with startup procedures of other installers.
