Glucometers Should Be Cleaned After Each Use

 Glucometers should be cleaned after each use.

 Both the QC and the strip containers must have the expiration date written on them.

o The QC solutions are only good for 3 months

o The strips are good for 6months. CHG SWAB PREP TIME

 Swab 30seconds and air dry for 1 minute

CAUTIs

 If your patient has a foley, you must have an order. Please double check as many patients did not have an order, but had a foley.

 Completing the criteria for catheterization- if you are checking hemodynamically unstable-The pt has to actually be unstable and actively titrating pressors. We have found some documentation of hemodynamic unstable, but no pressors, and BP has been completely stable. Make sure you are choosing the appropriate reason, if there is a reason. If there is not

 Starting Wednesday, July 20th Alarm Parameter Defaults are changing

 Why? To reduce non-actionable/nuisance alarms

 You may tighten or narrow alarm settings without an order

 To widen the parameters outside default limits, you must have an order

 The no action required alarms are going away!
