After joining my basketball team at school, I realized how great of a game it really was. I learned all about how to set up plays and shooting form. The most important lessons I learned though were the ones that I could take off the court and through life with me. This is why I have decided that every person should play basketball. It teaches you a great game and important life lessons.

While basketball may come natural to many, there is always something to work and improve on. A player can always improve their shooting percentage, form, speed, and ball handling. Even players in the NBA still have to practice. Basketball has taught me that working hard, even when you are good at something, makes you even better. Everyone can always use extra practice to become stronger in a new area. 1) There are times in practice where we train for days and run for hours to make sure we are ready for our next game. The harder we practice, the better we play against the other team. This taught me that working hard can make me successful. I started to study more for my test and soon was acing all of them. If everyone played basketball just once, they could see where hard work could take them.

Teamwork is essential to playing the game. One player cannot move the ball down the court, find an open shot, and go for the rebound. Basketball has taught me that you have to rely on your team members to be successful. If everyone played basketball, they could see the importance of working together. 2) People who don’t play basketball have no idea what it means to work with others. They are typically the people in class that cause groups to get bad grades. 3) Playing basketball means you could be the CEO of a company one day because you would know about the team work to get to that position.

Basketball games are all about strategy too. You have to know which plays to work on different types of defense and you have to learn your opposition’s type of play. If you learn these things, you can strategize the best ways to win games. Strategy takes a lot of thinking and can improve the way you look at problems off the court. 4) All basketball players are smart due to being able to strategize.

Practicing basketball has taught me a lot about life, but also has just made my passion for the game grow. I look forward to each day that I get to shoot the ball, and I know my love for the game will continue to grow. If everyone would give basketball a chance, they could learn important things about life and love the game as much as I do.
