Position Title Tradesperson (Fabricator Welder)

Purpose of Position The objective of the Tradesperson is to carry out all servicing and repair work delegated to him/her, in the safest and most efficient manner, using the resources available to him/her.

Utilise effective interpersonal skills to interpret and carry out instructions and messages and where required deliver the same Demonstrating accountability for personal outputs (within the area of competency) and assist in the timely and efficient delivery of projects Maintain understanding of customer requirements and expectations and provide accurate and timely communications to team leader and supervisor Communicate identified additions and/or changes to required work

Technical Operational Weld as required in flat, vertical or overhead positons

Ignite torches or start power supply, strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify Team Leader Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, and flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications Recognise, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers Maintain clean and orderly working area

Take personal care of equipment and machinery and operate within specifications and company guidelines to maintain and enhance the effectiveness of plant, equipment and fleet Use and apply knowledge, training, technical and personal skills to carry out work allocated, in a business-like manner, on the basis that it is through customer satisfaction we succeed. Interpret work orders and perform according to specifications and job requirements Provide accurate quotes by determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity Control costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options

Accurately complete incident and accident and damage reports

Quality Ensure a high standard of workmanship, which as a minimum meets all relevant statutory requirements and customer expectations Inspecting products and/or material for conformity with specification and company procedures Implements quality control techniques

Accurate record keeping and documentation where required inclusive of timesheets Support processes to eliminate injuries, reworks, fleet damage, lost time, material waste and overall operational costs

Planning Recommend preventative maintenance schedules; schedules for installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion and the like

This role may also be required to undertake other tasks and duties as required and identified by management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

. The position is based from the Lampton Avenue Workshop. Candidate requires a willingness to travel both intra and interstate and live away from home in order to complete a given project or job as required. . Working hours are as per the current Fleet Maintenance Employee Enterprise Agreement 2015-2018. The role may require extended work hours during higher than normal work volume periods. . This is a physically strenuous and demanding role where the worker will be required to undertake heavy and repetitive manual work which requires a high level of physical fitness and core body strength. . The worker will be required to reach with hands and arms (including above shoulder height work), balance and stoop, kneel, squat and crouch in awkward positions and will at times be required to stand for prolonged periods. They must have the ability to competently negotiate uneven surfaces as required. . The role involves exposures to noise and vibrations and the worker will be required to participate in ongoing health surveillance in relation to these exposures. . The Workshop environment is cold and where field work is required, due to the outdoor nature of the position, the work environment will involve exposure to the elements. Relevant clothing and protective equipment will be supplied accordingly as required for the set task.
