JOB DESCRIPTION – Class of 2015 - Co-ordinator, World Cup Project

Job purpose: To co-ordinate the major Class of 2015 project around the FIFA 2010 World Cup

Reporting to: GCE Co-ordinator

Key working relationships: GCE Campaigns and Communications Co-ordinator, other organisations in Class of 2015

Location: GCE World Cup project office in Vauxhall London (with significant travel)

Salary: £55,083 – £65,182 per annum (equivalent to €69,559 to €71,240 or ZAR 746,590 to 883,559)

Contract Length: 24 months (Jan 2009 to Dec 2010)

Duties and responsibilities: To lead and manage the Class of 2015 World Cup project overseeing a team of 4 staff in London and Johannesburg to achieve a major campaign around education for all children in Africa at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Implementing the workplan as directed by the steering committee and manage effective relationship with each member of the steering committee.

Working with FIFA and Street Football World to ensure the project succeeds in raising funds for Football for Hope movement as well as raising awareness around the Education for All Goals and MDGs 2 and 3.

Overseeing a budget of over £1million (Euros and USD).

Developing campaign materials which effectively showcase the educational aspect of the 20 Centres and which argue that all children in Africa should receive the same opportunity.

Work with FAs and governments to ensure support from the qualifying teams.

Work with former and current footballers to secure high profile support for the campaign.

Work with Broadcasters to ensure coverage of the campaign messages and spokespeople. Develop a campaign symbol and website that allows millions of fans around the world to get directly engaged in pledging their support.

Key competencies:

Essential/Desirable Degree in social science, development studies, education D and development or equivalent Knowledge of current debates in education policy e.g. D financing of education Experience of high level relationship management D Experience of co-ordinating multi-country campaign E projects At least 2 years experience of working in professional E football preferably CSR Knowledge of developing supporter management systems E and experience in increasing supporter base including websites Some experience of popular mobilisation E

Excellent interpersonal skills over email, by phone and in E person Ability to work with colleagues in different locations E Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise a complex E workload Fluency in written and spoken English E Competency in one other GCE official language (French, D Spanish, Arabic) Ability to travel frequently (12-15 times per year) E
