I have four children. My older three children attended Mimosa; two are graduates of Roswell High School and attend Georgia Tech, and the third is a sophomore at Roswell High School. I have a kindergartner at Mimosa. I am a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Chemical Engineering. I have been an active volunteer in the schools for many years serving as treasurer as well as being in charge of fundraising and teacher appreciation and assisting with many PTA programs at Mimosa. I currently volunteer with the Roswell High School Band Boosters as assistant treasurer. Over the years as a parent at Mimosa, I have spoken before the school board regarding redistricting and as an advocate for teaching foreign language in elementary school. I have also attended community meetings of school board members to stay current on policies and activities in the county. I would like to serve on the School Governance Council because I believe that Mimosa is a great school with great students, teachers, and parents. I want to help all of our students achieve their potential and to support our teachers as they help our Catherine Flynn students. I want to engage our parents in our school because they are the primary support for our students. Parents who are active in their children’s school have students who are successful in school.
My name is Domonique Williams and I would like to continue serving Mimosa Elementary on the School Governance Council. During the 2012-2013 school year, I was a member of the Local School Advisory Council (LSAC) with Principal Johnson and several other parents and teachers. On this committee, we discussed topics related to academics, student achievement, and community interaction. On this committee, I provided an honest parent perspective on how these topics affected not only my student but how they potentially affect other students attending Mimosa. I would like to carry on serving in this capacity to continue to affect positive change at Mimosa. A bit about my background, I am the proud mother of two boys, a 2nd grader and a 19 month old. My husband and I purchased a home in Roswell last year and since then I have become a very vested part of the community supporting Mimosa Elementary. As a Domonique Williams parent, I want to continue to aid Mimosa in providing the best environment for current and future students including my two boys. Professionally, I am a management consultant with a company
with offices in Atlanta. My job is to provide guidance to businesses on how to better run their companies and how to ensure they adhere to corporate governance and government regulations. I will apply these same principles during my tenor on the School Governance Council at Mimosa. Thank you for your consideration.
I believe I have the qualifications to be an advocate for the school and the community and ensure that there's an environment of open discussion. I would like to promote-within my means- that time is primarily devoted to listen and discuss the concerns and suggestions of the families. If possible, in a language that the families will be able to understand. My primary wish is to help and support our school's education system. I would like to be a liaison between the staff and the parents of children at Mimosa and help promote communication between them, especially when students are concerned. Also, I would like to assist the school and its students to make sure they have everything they require to be successful. Additionally, I would like all children to have access to the same opportunities. Gary Castellanos
I am the perfect fit for serving on the School Governance Council because I have a history of academic excellence, superb work ethic, and a strong family background. I excelled in elementary school with honor roll and conduct rewards. In high school, I was the Valedictorian with the highest G.P.A. in the state. I was the Math Club president, National Honor Society Vice President, 1999 Leader of the Year, and only Academic All-State member on my soccer team. I graduated from Auburn University Montgomery, AACSB accredited, with a 3.91 G.P.A., Summa Cum Laude. My name became synonymous with the Dean's List, and I became a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. At work, my strong work ethic and detail led to me great success. I advanced at Outback Steakhouse through virtually every position, including trainer. In my current IT path, I advanced from a tier 1 John Chiofolo consultant to my current position as a tier 3 technical consultant and team manager. In our household, our children are expected to live up to the highest standards of which they are capable, including both conduct and grades. We promote the values of work before play, proper rest for balance, and a healthy diet. Our children are involved in academy soccer and gymnastics to teach them discipline, strength, flexibility, patience, and team work. Overall, I am an excellent fit for this position as my résumé speaks for itself in terms of work ethic, academic excellence, and family values.
