Upcoming testing deadlines: April 10 : Deadline to upload photo to ACT website for the April 18th test. Go to www.actstudent.org to upload your photo. 181211 is the school code.

Juniors, the last chance to take the ACT before your senior year will be the June 13th test – deadline to register is May 8th. ALL JUNIORS NEED TO TAKE THE ACT BEFORE THEIR SENIOR YEAR!!!!!! Scholarship available for dual credit courses: May 15: Mary Jo Young Scholarship Provides assistance with tuition and textbook expenses for high school students who are enrolled in dual credit courses at a KY college. Be a high school junior or senior during the 2015-2016 academic year, have a minimum ACT composite score of 18, or a GPA of 2.5 or higher for the 2014-2015 academic year. Priority given to students who are eligible for free and reduced price lunch. Scholarships are up to $420 per course, with a maximum of 2 courses per semester, plus a textbook reimbursement allowance of $125 per course. April 1: Kentucky Federation of Republican Women Scholarship Program - $1000 Senior girl that has been politically active during high school, registered Republican and plans to enroll at a college or University. Application available in the guidance office.

April 1: University of Kentucky Alumni Scholarship – Applications in the guidance office It is a need based scholarship for freshman students who plan to attend the University of Kentucky. Brief narrative of your need for this scholarship and what it means to you -Transcript and ACT scores

April 1: Henry R. Bell Scholarship – Jennie Stuart Medical – (2) $2,000 Based on grades, character, potential and motivation to continue his or her education in the field of medical science. Application available on the www.JSMC.org website – scroll down to find – center page.

April 1: Bluegrass Cellular – (15) $1,500 scholarships Criteria include: must be a current Bluegrass Cellular customer, 2.5 GPA, financial need, academic achievement and school and community involvement, transcript, a personal essay and 2 letters of recommendation. April 15: Pennyrile Electric $1,000 (14) available Requirements: Min. GPA – 2.5, 300 word essay, 1 letter of recommendation from a local community leader Application available in the guidance office.

April 30: Shaw Scholarship- $750 Based on financial need, leadership activities, scholarship, and a 300 word essay. Requires a parent statement illustrating the applicant’s need for financial assistance and the inability of the family to satisfy these needs. Application available in the guidance office. May 1: Christian County Cattlemen’s Association – (4) $2,000 scholarships – Applications in the guidance office – applicant is required to be a member of the Christian County Cattlemen’s Association, child or grandchild of a member. New applicants accepted. All majors accepted with preference points to be given to agriculture related programs.

May 1: Army Scholarship Foundation – amount ranges from $500 to $2,000 - Can be renewed annually Eligibility: Applicants must: Be sons or daughters of regular active duty, active duty Reserve or active duty National Guard U.S. Army member in good standing OR Be sons or daughters of former U.S. Army members who received an honorable discharge or medical discharge, or who were killed while serving in the U.S. Army. Have a 2.0 GPA. May 8: Hopkinsville Business and Professional Women’s Club Book Scholarship – Pays for books Must be attending HCC, Murray State University Campus, or a Local Tech or Business School. Min. GPA of 2.5 – Applications available in the guidance office. (NEW SCHOLARSHIP-not in March newsletter)

I have not received these scholarship applications to date. I expect them to be delivered any day now. Please be on the lookout for email notifications that they are available for pickup in the guidance office:

Jaycees Scholarship (4) $350 – I have not received applications but this is the typical deadline. You can call the Jaycees office for more information. 270-886-2221

Joey Ledford Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 Requirements: application, transcript and attendance record, essay that describes why you are applying for this scholarship and why you should be chosen as the recipient.

Pioneers’ Incorporated Minority Scholarship Application 2.5 GPA or higher. Must be accepted to an institute of higher learning: college, vocational or technical school.

Hopkinsville Electric Scholarship – (2) $1,000 scholarships *Must be a HES customer *Be accepted as a full-time student to an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational school *Minimum 3.0 GPA *300 word essay * 2 letters of recommendation

SENIORS: Housing deadlines are quickly approaching!! Please be sure to keep up with deadlines. You should also be registering online for your school’s orientation day. Orientation days will include creating your class schedule. Your preferred classes/times/days of the week will most likely fill up quickly. It is best to choose the earliest orientation date that will work with your schedule.
