Dear Forensic Director,

The Glencoe Speech Squad cordially invites your team to the Crimson Tide Tournament on Saturday, January 17th . Individual events, Student Congress, and four types of debate will be offered: LD Value, LD Policy, Public Forum, and Public Debate.

Public Debates will be based upon Current Events.

L.D. V. and Public Forum will use the JANUARY TOPICS.

Since there is little chance before the district meets to have junior and senior speakers compete against each other, we will have open division in all events. Individual events are as follows: Extemp., A.D.S., Expository, Dramatic (both serious and humorous combined), Impromptu (topic: Quotes and Words) Duo Interp., Poetry and Prose Interp., Oratory and Radio.

Each student may enter two events. However, only one event from each pattern may be entered. CHECK PATTERNS CAREFULLY!

REMEMBER: Only 2 events per person and only 1 from each pattern! Student Congress conflicts with pattern “A” and “B”. Extempers go to other event first in prep pattern

AWARDS: Trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in each event.

TALENT SHOW: ONE entry per school not to exceed seven minutes. The first ten entries will be accepted because of the lack of time and space. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded.

STUDENT CONGRESS: Only 5 students per school may enter.

DEBATE: Only a TOTAL of 5 L.D. Debaters Only a TOTAL of 5 Debate Teams (Public and Public Forum)

NON-FINALISTS EVENTS: Will not be offered this year.

FEE: SCHOOL FEE: $25.00

ENTRY FEE (per event I.E.’s and Debate): $3.00 \ Duo and Debate Teams $6.00 Example: If Tom enters two events it would cost him $6.00

ENTRY FEE (per entry Talent): $2.00

JUDGING: Each school will judge five rounds to fulfill judging duties for the tournament. Additional judges will be from Glencoe’s faculty or local college judges. Upon request, any school judging more than the required five rounds will be paid for each extra round.

LUNCH: There will be a snack bar for those that do not bring a sack lunch. The talent show will be during the lunch period. Come and enjoy the talent competition.

Highway from Beaverton, go through Hillsboro until you come to 1st Street and turn right and follow it out to the school. If you come via the Sunset Highway from Portland, take the North Plains/Hillsboro exit and turn left (south). Follow the signs to Hillsboro.

CONDUCT EXPECTATIONS 1. No smoking.  2. Only personal “headphones” stereos and radios allowed! 3. Polite and attentive Behavior is expected during Talent Show. 4. Cafeteria must be cleaned up before awards will start.
