President Lisa Stout Called the Meeting to Order at 6:35Pm. and Welcomed Everyone

WWPA Minutes

September 2013

Attendance: Lisa Stout, Carol Hartmann, Tammy Deering, Chris Olson, Nick Karls, Claire Santune, Kristin Osterhaus, Kandace Elliot, John Davidson, Meg Steinweg, Chris Walker, Holly Henderson, Michelle Edminster, Elizabeth Gulden and Jackie Jurvelin.

President Lisa Stout called the meeting to order at 6:35pm. and welcomed everyone.

Introductions were made by all in attendance.

No Secretary’s Report.

Treasurer’s Report: Carol said we currently have $14,000 in our acct. She explained to all in attendance where that moneygets spent. She has also just written checks to all the teachers for getting extra supplies as they are needed.

Current WWPA Business:

1.)Fall Fundraiser is set to begin on Sept.17th for GLW and West. The dates for the fundraiser is Sept.17-30th. Delivery date is Oct.23rd We will need volunteers for the pick-up located at GLW.

2.) Tree of Fundraising was discussed. We need volunteers to count soup labels, box tops, and get Market Day fliers into Friday Folders.

3.) Childcare for the WWPA meetings. Lisa has contacted 2 different groups about providing childcare during our meetings. She is waiting to hear back about that.

4.) WWPA activities for each month. We currently have nothing scheduled for Oct. We will start to work with staff to coordinate an evening with them. ie: tech night, math night, reading night?. New Business for WWPA:

1.) Parent Teacher Conferences Oct.9th and 10th. Food and bottled water will be provided for teachers at both GLW and West. We have volunteers that will help set up the food for West. Meg Steinweg will coordinate potato and salad bar for teachers at GLW. She will call or email volunteers about what they will need to bring. Claire S. will get subs to Chris at West by noon for BELC teachers.

2.) Homecoming Fundraiser Oct.7-11th We will be selling beads and blue mustaches at both the Powder Puff game and the Homecoming parade. Carol made a motion to buy blue mustaches and was 2nd by Tammy.

3.) T-Shirt orders are due with payment by 9/27.

4.) GLW’s Webpage: should we set up a meeting /training with Matt Pelland to add our Volunteer page to the website? Also we should add calendar to webpage to keep parents informed of upcoming events.

5.) Principal/Teacher requests: Chris Olson Principal at West requested $200 for a Field Trip to Trinen Farms in Lodi for the Kindergarten class. This money would help with Bus and entry to the farm. He also asked for $500 to add books to the leveled reading books for West. He would love to “beef up” the book levels D, E, F. He would like to submit the book order in the next couple weeks so would like a decision this evening. Carol made a motion to approve the money for the Field Trip, 2nd by Claire. Claire made a motion to approve the money for the books, 2nd by Jackie. Motion passes.

-GLW Kindergarten teachers also requested $175 for the Field Trip to Lodi and also a stop at Sky High. Carol made a motion to approve money for Field Trip, 2nd by Tammy. Motion passes. -GLW Music Teacher sent a request for WWPA to pay for half of the cost for Opera for the Young. If we register by Oct.15th we will get a lower rate. She would need $390. Lisa made a motion to approve, 2nd by Jackie. Motion passes.

Claire will bring info. to the next meeting about having a Holiday Shop in Dec.

Meeting adjorned by Lisa at 7:50pm.

Next meeting will be Tuesday, Oct.8th at West, 6:30pm.
