2. Opening Ode (John)

Our Opening Ode appeared as the theme for last year’s B.I.L. meeting and went un-noticed by our membership to the great glee of our sisters.

I am told that the following description was published with help and sanction of one of our own members. QUOTE (Macbeth from Macbeth, I, 3)

“What are these so withered and so wild in their attire

That look not like the inhabitants of the earth, And yet are on it.

You should be women and yet your beard forbid us To interpret that you are so.”

3 B.I.L. SONG (To the tune of the Wiffenpoof song)

To the auctions at each meeting And the bake sales at the mall,

To the pies and cakes and cookies we love so well;

Sing the B.I.L.s assembled With their checkbooks raised on high,

While the bidding of our sisters drain us dry.

Yes, the lateness of their meetings And conventions loved so well,

Cottey College and the rummage and the rest.

We will stay home every Monday while our strength and patience last, Then we’ll pass and be forgotten with the rest.

We’re poor little boys who have lost our way, Baa, Baa, Baa.

We’re home in the basement where we’re told to stay Baa, Baa, Baa.

Gentlemen songsters off on a spree Doomed from here to reciprocity

Lord, have mercy on such as we. Baa, Baa, Baa.
