I recommend them for acceptance into the Beta Theta Omicron, Beta Xi Eta, AND Beta Zeta Nu Chapters of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society."

2. Deanna will proceed to the podium and make the following statement:

"You are about to be inducted into a scholarly fellowship which embraces two-year colleges not only of your own state but of the nation and the world. This fellowship is Phi Theta Kappa. After induction, you will find among the members an atmosphere of scholarship, to which you must give of yourself in order so that the organization may be meaningful to you.

Our ideals may be expressed in the words of Albert Einstein. Einstein told students that "concern for mankind and its destiny must always be uppermost in your minds. Never forget that amidst your diagrams and equations." Use your talents, and work with your fellow Phi Theta Kappans to lead us into this new century with dignity as well as humanity.

3. Ronnette will come forth and pick up the large candle from the induction table and come forward to the podium and make the following statement:

"I have in my hand a torch, symbolic of knowledge, which is the servant of wisdom which dwells with prudence and leads in the way of righteousness in the midst of the paths of judgment."

4. Jaimelynn will approach the podium and make the following statement:

I have the white flower typifying purity and beauty of light, with its white buds signifying new intellectual association."

5. David Latt will approach the podium and make the following statement:

You see the Phi Theta Kappa emblem. (On the screen.) The golden field refers to the golden opportunities that abound on every hand for society members. The black band represents the three ideals that band us together: wisdom, aspiration and purity. Behind the band is a wreath. The oak leaves stand for stability and strength of character, as symbolized by the sturdy oak. The graceful, curling leaves of the laurel signify achievement and success, all attributes for membership in our society. Above the band is the representation of the head of Athena, the Goddess of Learning. Please Say: I would now like to call upon XXX, advisor for the XXX Chapter and professor of XXX at XXX.

6. Advisor XXX will then say:

I will call out each inductees name and chapter. When your name is announced, please come to the induction table, sign the roster, collect your flower, and light your candle."
