Job Title: On- Call/Part-time Adult Services Instructor

Reports to: Program Manager

Positions supervised: None

Status: Non-Exempt

Work week: varies, as needed

Job Summary: Is responsible for supervision, instruction, and monitoring of participants in functional life skills, social behaviors, and identified skills. Provide personal care as required. Work is performed in facility and community settings as directed by the Individual Program Plan/ Individual Service Plan. Assist in development of goals and objectives for each participant.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

90% Is responsible for the supervision and instruction of participants. Implement Individual Program Plan / Individual Service Plan for participants. Organizes and maintains training areas according to procedures and needs of participants. Assure and support participant training in a functional, age appropriate, reality based and least restrictive alternative manner. Support behavioral training and intervention in accordance with policy, written plans, and agency procedures. Utilizes instructional strategies based on individual learning style and disability. Provide active supervision to assure learning, reasonable opportunity to risk, and a safe productive daily program.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining active treatment and supervision throughout program day. Assures participants are engaged in meaningful activities during program hours. Identifies, develops, and implements activities for individuals and small groups. Prepare contact logs, case notes, incident / accident reports, and other documentation as required. Complete client scan- sheets, attendance records, and other data as required.

Perform personal care and assistance as required. Assist with lifting, transfer and movement of participants as required. May be required to drive agency vehicles and transport participants and/or goods.

Provide input and information for ISP development and review. Report problems and/or concerns promptly to immediate supervisor. Attend meetings as scheduled. Is a member of participant’s interdisciplinary team.

8% Promote a safe, harassment and discrimination free environment. Promote efficient instructional environment for staff, participants, volunteers, and visitors. Is responsible for compliance with Board policy and procedures, department procedures, applicable Department of Labor regulations, CARF, and local, state, and federal regulatory rules and standards.

Supports the agency mission and positively represents the agency. Maintain positive communication with peers, supervisors, participants, families, funding sources, and the community. Maintain a professional and confidential manner in performance of duties with staff, participants, and the community. Maintain confidentiality of participants and families as required by law.

2% Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

AA degree and 1 year work experience or High School diploma or equivalent, with 3 years successful work experience required. Experience in habitation/rehabilitation working with adults with developmental disabilities or disabilities preferred. Experience in working with individuals with challenging behaviors, and/or severe disabilities beneficial. Fluency in English and Spanish desired.

Demonstrated skills in organization, problem solving, math and computation, verbal and written expression. Able to use calculator and equipment common to personal care and daily living. Able to instruct individuals in functional skills and tasks using a variety of instructional methods.

Must be able to pass core training as established by organization.

Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and alcohol/drug screen in accordance with Drug-Free Workplace Policy. Must obtain and maintain required criminal record and health clearances, and valid First Aid and Adult CPR certifications.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must carry at least the minimum auto liability insurance limits as required by law. Essential duties require the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of

Able to lift, carry and move participants (adults-up to one-half body weight or 70 pounds, whichever is less) and materials (up to 50 pounds).

Able to or willing to learn to operate equipment necessary for instruction and/or care of participants.

Instructor positions perform personal care, physical assistance and training in these areas for participants. Instructors may be assigned to any Instructor position within the organization.
