Technician: Nuclear Imaging and Spectroscopy Radiation Monitoring Devices, Inc. (RMD, Watertown, Massachusetts) combines university-quality research with the commercialization of its developments through RMD Instruments, LLC. RMD is a national leader in the US government-sponsored SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) program, and since its founding in 1974 has made countless breakthroughs in the development of radiation detection materials and technology, and introduced related products, technology and instrumentation essential to science, health care, security, defense and industry. This position is with the Imaging Technology Group at RMD The mission of the Imaging Technologies and Applications Group is to conceive and develop innovative materials and technology for radiation detection with demanding applications in healthcare, the sciences, security and defense. Its efforts have resulted in significant advances in novel high-performance scintillators fabrication via vapor phase deposition. The purpose of this position is to perform evaluations of thin films and crystals of advanced scintillation materials using various techniques and contribute toward advancement of the technology Responsibilities include:  Work in a team with scientists and technicians to ensure the timely and effective completion of R&D project obligations  Evaluate scintillator films for use in various X-ray/gamma-ray, and neutron imaging modalities according to developed protocols  Evaluate scintillator crystal performance using nuclear spectroscopic techniques  Analyze and compile data into technical presentations and reports  Operate various analytical instruments in the lab, including X-ray fluorescence device, spectrophotometers, and scanning electron microscope with EDS  Occasional domestic travel requirements (5%) Needed Skills:  BS or MS in material science, physics, chemistry or a related engineering discipline  Broad knowledge and experience in X-ray imaging and/or nuclear spectroscopy  Specific in-depth knowledge of measurement techniques  Hands-on laboratory skills and experience in collecting analytical data in various forms and compiling it into graphical form for presentation  Knowledge of scintillators is desirable  Strong presentation and writing skills with a previous record of publications
