Contractor Pre-Qualification FAQ’s

March 31st 2017 arrives and my business isn’t pre-qualified to 70% - what now? We will honour all existing contracts, but we’ll need to review this following completion of existing contracts if you can’t achieve the pre-qualification standard.

What happens if I want to pre-qualify an alternative provider to Site Safe? That is fine – if you have pre-qualified with another provider or organization, or are able to provide us with all the relevant documentation to enable us to pre-qualify you, we are happy. We would need at least 1 month in order to work through this with you.

What documentation would you require from us to pre-qualify outside of Site Safe? Send an email through to [email protected] and request the Pre-qualification checklist, this will provide you with everything you need including some handy tips on how to increase your chance of success.

Why did you choose Site Safe, aren’t they Construction focused? We choose an independent organization, as opposed to providing the pre-qualification ourselves as we felt they had greater capacity and were in a neutral position. Also we feel the fee of $180 for a Site Safe pre-qualification is value for money. Yes Site Safe certainly support the Construction sector well, but we see no reason why non-construction related organizations can’t succeed under this system.

What happens if Site Safe can’t process my paperwork before 31st March? We appreciate that you cannot control Site Safe’s workload. If you can provide us with evidence you’ve submitted your documents to Site Safe we will accept this. We would however hold a dim view if it takes you all the remaining months to get your first submission through.

Ok, you’ve received a rating from Site Safe and it’s below 70%? We have seen many of our Contractors work their way up to 70%. We are encouraging a positive shift in safety behavior. If you are below 70% and we have an alternative provider who is above, offering a comparable service we will give preference to them.

I’ve been working hard to get a great score and I see you working with a Contractor who isn’t on the Site Safe list? We will honour all current contracts. We may also have worked with that Contractor outside of the Site Safe Framework in order to pre-qualify them.

It’s hard enough to make a living why are you doing this to us? We make no apology for encouraging you to ensure yourselves, your staff and others working on our sites are safe – your life matters to us.

Ok – got all that, still not convinced? The safety systems which Site Safe and similar organizations require are set to show a pattern of positive and safe behavior and process across your organization. We feel that this pre-qualification will help make your and our business safer and are confident it will hold you in good stead for future contracts both with ourselves and other organizations.
