Hunter, as a child, is clumsy and awkward while his brother, Ivan, is cool, confident and who continually protects and watches over Hunter. As children, Ivan saves Hunter’s life by keeping him from the deadly jaws of an alligator. Even though Ivan is the one showered with success and always gets the girl, Hunter loves him and feels he owes his brother everything.

Flash forward 30 years, Dr. Hunter Angstrom’s is maverick genius geneticist while Ivan is confined to a wheelchair, fatally ill with Lou Gerhig’s disease. This progressive and insidious disease has destroyed all of Ivan’s promise of youth. The only way Hunter believes he can save his brother’s life is through his highly controversial treatment that he invented. He uses a new type of gene therapy—replacing the patient’s weak disease-causing genes with stronger healthy genes.

Consumed with finding a cure for Ivan, Hunter neglects his wife Katherine, who now cares for Ivan in his sickened state. Once Ivan’s love in youth, Katherine fears Hunter is meddling with the forces of nature. Ignoring ethical boundaries and Katherine’s pleas, Hunter experiments with amphibian DNA that has regenerative capabilities and shark DNA whose cells resist cancer growth. Hoping to not only cure Ivan, Hunter maintains his new experimentation will make Ivan better than any mere human ever has been.

After Hunter is forced by funding complications to rush Ivan’s treatment, Ivan, at first, appears to be cured. Complicating matters, Ivan and Katherine rekindle their childhood love and begin having an affair. Ivan seems stronger than ever. But then Ivan begins to change. Something stirs in him that threatens to take is humanity away and turn him into something monstrous.

Consumed with rage and the animal DNA clouding his reason, Ivan changes both mentally and physical; he embarks on a vengeance crazed rampage. Hunter torn between duty and the love of his brother must decide between killing his brother and letting this monster he has created run amuck. Ivan, now more dangerous than ever, might not be able to be stopped.

After a string of murders, the police are on Ivan’s tail. In a desperate attempt to reclaim his humanity, the Ivan-monster kidnaps Katherine and runs away with her. Hunter chases after him for the showdown between monster and creator. Ivan is no longer human nor is he all animal either. He is a chimera—a hybrid mixture of many creatures lost in a sea of emotions and physical deformity. 5

Luke Golden has produced, written and directed about a dozen short films and has written as many feature-length screenplays. He is also the co-founder of the production companies Manson Place Pictures (“The Heirloom”) and Golden Olive Films, which produced “Culprit,” “Broken Playground Dreams,” among others. Mr. Golden has been working in the film industries of Hollywood and New York for over 10 years now. Mr. Golden’s varied background in independent film includes such diverse work as digital editor and camera operator to writer, director and producer. Mr. Golden who has studied film nearly his entire life got the rare opportunity to apprentice with the acclaimed filmmaker and film historian, Peter Bogdanovich [The Last Picture Show (1971), Paper Moon (1973)] for over three years. Mr. Golden received credit as Mr. Bogdanovich’s assistant on The Cat’s Meow (2001).

Luke Golden graduated with high honors from the Screenwriting program at Boston University with a BA in Film and Television. He received the Screenwriting Achievement Award upon graduation. There he studied under the tutelage of the maverick screenwriter, Stephen Geller, who adapted Kurt Vonnegut’s classic Slaughterhouse Five to the screen. Mr. Golden studied film production at NYU’s renowned Tisch School for the Arts. His short film,“The Caucus,”received special recognition and was chosen to be screened at the 2005 Marbletown Arts Association juried film festival in Rosendale NY.

Currently teaching film and television production at Santa Susana Magnet High School, Mr. Golden is the film program director. Keeping in touch with his film world contacts, he brings varied professional colleagues into the classroom exposing the students to his own real world experience.

Born in England, raised in Brooklyn, New York, and a graduate of Princeton Within the next few years, he landed University, Wentworth Miller is a guest spots on a variety of shows compelling and critically acclaimed including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, young actor whose credits span both ER and Popular. He also starred in television and feature film. the Hallmark "mega-series" Dinotopia: The Series. Miller began his career in the industry on the other side of the camera. After Wentworth Miller Miller then segued to The Human graduating from college with a degree (Hunter) Stain, a feature film directed by in English Literature, Miller headed to Robert Benton and starring Anthony Los Angeles in the spring of 1995 to Hopkins and Nicole Kidman. Jason O’Mara was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. After graduating from Trinity College Dublin with a BA in Drama and Theatre he moved to London, England to further pursue his acting career. Time spent in British repertory theater led to major roles in some of Britain and Ireland's great theaters, including the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Almeida theater, London's West End (the Apollo and Comedy theaters) and the Gate Jason O'Mara (Ivan)

A move to the US in 2002 allowed Jason opportunities in Hollywood where he has played series regular roles on several network television shows. Jason and his family divide their time between the east and west coasts of America, and get back to visit Ireland as often as they can. 10

Elizabeth Mitchell was born in Los Angeles in 1970. Shortly after her birth, her parents moved to Dallas, Texas. She was graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas. Later, she earned a BFA degree in acting from Stephens College and also studied at the British American Drama Academy. Additionally, she spent six years at the respected Dallas Theatre Center and one year Elizabeth Mitchell with that theater's Encore Company. (Katherine)

Before her big screen debut, she started her acting career from theaters. Her theatrical stage credits include productions of "As You Like It", "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", "Measure for Measure", "Baby" and "Chicago", among many others.

Her breakthrough performance was opposite Angelina Jolie in Michael Cristofer's acclaimed HBO telefilm Gia endearing her to audiences and critics, alike. Following with the sci-fi time- travel adventure, Frequency with Dennis Quaid and Neil LaBute's highly anticipated Nurse Betty opposite Renée Zellweger, Elizabeth showed her charismatic acting skills. With numerous credits from theaters, TV series and movies, Elizabeth Mitchell continues to give her best in the acting field.

Fiona Walsh (): Fiona recently presented her hilariously funny one-woman show Great White American Teeth – which debuted in 2004 at the Midtown International Theater Festival - at the prestigious Irish Repertory Theatre in NYC. She has appeared in numerous productions at the Rep including: Eclipsed and The Shaughraun, and at the Irish Arts Center, where she hosts the monthly cabaret evening, “Sundays at Seven”. Frances Healy (Maid#1): Frances is an actress and a stand-up comedienne. She was a cast member of Fair City, the long-running Irish television show, and portrayed a nun in The Magdalene Sisters, which one a number of awards including the Golden Lion at the 2002 Venice Film Festival and Best Ensemble Film at the British Independent Film Awards in 2003.

(Maid#2): Laoisa’s New York theatre credits include: Nancy in Gaslight at the Irish Repertory Theatre, Tracey in Dirtywork , which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival, and Laura in Joe Penhall's Some Voices. Caitriona Balfe (Annette): Catriona has enjoyed a highly successful modeling career for several years working for such prestigious fashion houses as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Dolce & Gabbana. Editorial work has included: Vogue, ELLE, and Marie Claire, and she has been featured in campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana, DKNY, H&M,and Calvin Klein. Director’s Notes

In writing Three Days In Dublin I had, ironically, three objectives: showcase my beloved adopted city, heal a broken heart, and deliver a love letter to the 40’s romantic comedies that I have always loved, and that have influenced my work since I began writing screenplays almost ten years ago.

Writers are always told to write about what they know. I know Ireland or more specifically, Dublin almost as well as I know my hometown of New York City. This knowledge will enable me to successfully make Dublin a major character in the film.

From the first morning that Julianna, Susan and Connie arrive in town, Julianna looks out her hotel room window taking in the sights of the city. Momentarily, she can forget that she is about to face Brendan –the man who left her – and enjoy the sights on the street below her.

As Julianna, Susan and Connie make their way around Dublin, the traditional Georgian architecture and ancient cobblestone streets mix with the occasional sleek skyscraper and fancy up market restaurants and bars. The juxtaposition of the new and the old gives Dublin a flavor all its own, which I plan to capture to enhance the viewers’ experience as they take this journey with our protagonists.

Along the way the women meet up with a rag tag mix of supporting players who provide humor and color and keep the story moving at a fast pace. Each one gets instantly drawn into Julianna’s story, and wants to help Susan and Connie protect her from Brendan. Gallagher, one of the street musicians they encounter, even physically defends her honor! I believe that their interest illustrates a particularly Irish sensibility. There is a desire to be where the action is, which is born out of (mostly) caring and (a wee bit of) nosiness.

There is also a chance here to document the socioeconomic differences that have always existed in Ireland, but are even more prominent now that a healthy economy has dubbed it the “Celtic Tiger”. When Julianna meets up with both Brendan and Fin at a press conference, the difference between these two men could not be more obvious. Brendan displays all the smug trappings of the newly rich, while Fin is preoccupied with the troubles of those who are not benefiting from the new prosperity. Fin knows that all the flashy toys that money can buy are fleeting, but that, if used wisely, the same money can change the lives of the poorest children of Dublin.

It’s the same with love, he tells Julianna, which is a metaphor that helps Julianna to open her eyes and think about the future.

Throughout the story, the dialogue is sharp, smart and quick. This is the classic romantic comedy influence I spoke of earlier. Whether it is Julianna and Brendan trading barbs, or Susan taking to just about everyone else, the rhythm and timing of the words are as important as the words themselves.

Specific clothing, accessories and set dressing will also help to define the characters and locations, and really make them stand out. 15

Romantic comedies are usually the domain of couples. Three Days in Dublin is different in that three is the magic number. Julianna, Susan and Connie are three best friends, Julianna has a romantic triangle with Brendan and Fin, Connie befriends the trio of musician siblings: Brigid, Dara and Gallagher while Julianna adopts a triumvirate of preteen girls. And, of course, the action enfolds over three days in Dublin.

While we certainly root for Julianna to become a couple with Fin, and know that Susan and James will make a go of it, we are just as happy to know that the three women will always be together as best friends. Because at the core of this romantic comedy is the bond amongst these women. From the opening flashback in college where they make their solemn pledge to “protect one another from unfaithful men” you get the sense that they will remain the constant in each other’s lives.

Often in this genre, the best friend role is often underdeveloped or considered less attractive than the lead. Here Susan and Connie are given their own specific plots to explore. One of the joys of bringing their stories to the screen is the opportunity to show three equally strong women with three distinct personalities. Susan falls for young James, and the easy banter they have gives their romance a dose of comedy. Connie is often drunk to hilarious consequences, but she is also the one who never forgets their pact; a comedian with a romantic soul.

When I return for the extended pre-production and production period, I will be making my fourteenth trip to my adopted homeland. This time I will have the great honor and pleasure of taking my particularly affectionate view and recording it on precious 35MM film stock to share with the world. I am aiming for something as witty and sophisticated as The Philadelphia Story and His Girl Friday and as modern and honest as Bridget Jones’ Diary and The Break-up. 16 Story Tree Films
