Learning Objective: Student will review, reflect upon and creatively represent the eight parts of speech in the English language.

Instructions: Complete ONE project for each of the 8 parts of speech. You will be given time in class to work on the projects. You will have to complete some of this work AT HOME . Mrs. Stearns will have resource materials available to you if you need them. Each student will work through the project list at their own pace, however all projects must be turned in and labeled by March 12th.

Be prepared to present your work. Be creative! Be neat! Have fun!

Parts of Speech Project Create a collage of 10 nouns (5 common and 5 proper) that are Noun meaningful to you. Label whether the noun is common or proper. Should be colorful. Write a paragraph about a real or imagined encounter with a famous person. DO NOT Pronoun include the person’s name. You must include 10 pronouns. Use correct paragraph format. Create an informational brochure about verbs in which you define and demonstrate 6 Verb verbs. All three types of verbs (action, linking, and helping verbs) must be represented twice. Should be colorful. Design a menu for a fictitious restaurant that includes 10 vivid adjectives to describe the Adjective food. Be sure to organize your menu like a real restaurant. Should be colorful. Pick an area of the school (classroom, cafeteria, bathroom, etc.) and write a list of procedures for students to adhere to when they are in this Adverb location. Procedures should expected student behavior in that particular location. Include 10 adverbs. Imagine you came home to find a barrel full of monkeys in your room. Draw a picture of what Preposition your room would look like. Label the picture with 5 prepositional phrases describing the scene. Write a short dialogue (15 to 20 lines) between two people. Have each person use at least 5 Interjection interjections in the dialogue (10 total). Remember to punctuate the dialogue appropriately. To remember the coordinating conjunctions, just remember the acronym FANBOYS (for, and, not, but, or, yet, so).
