ASTOUNDING INVENTIONS

Dear Parents, For some years Meadow Park students have participated in an exciting school program, “ASTOUNDING INVENTIONS.” Your children once again are being invited to let their imaginations go wild, by creating an invention that will make “someone’s” life easier. Everyone can be an inventor, think like an inventor! Inventors are problem solvers who look at old problems in new ways.

Parental involvement is strongly encouraged; however, it is important that the invention ideas, illustrations, and descriptions are your child’s own. Parents are invited to assist children in making and photographing the invention model since the invention will be judged on the child’s ideas, not on the model. The greatest support you can offer is your enthusiastic interest in your child’s own unique ideas.

Participation in the “Astounding Inventions Contest” is optional. Meadow Park’s ASTOUNDING INVENTIONS CONVENTION will be held in the Library the week of Monday, January 9, through Friday, January 13, 2012. Projects must be at school by Monday, Jan 9. Meadow Park’s winners will have the opportunity to enter the district’s contest, which will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Irvine Valley College.

Please indicate below if your child will be participating in this exciting event. Cut off the form and send it to school by October 28. (Keep the letter.) A packet will be sent home in November with interested students.

Sincerely,

Mrs. P. Schmidt Science Specialist Astounding Inventions Coordinator ______MY CHILD (Please print first & last name) ______WILL PARTICIPATE IN THIS YEAR’S ASTOUNDING INVENTION CONVENTION.
