Vocal Behaviors Checklist

 I talk over noise  I talk too loudly  I drink a lot water  I yell or scream  I cough too much  I am usually quiet when my throat hurts  I cry too much  I imitate vehicles, animals, television characters or make other funny noises  I talk in an unusually high (Mariah Carey) or low pitch (Barry White)  I talk a lot even when I lose my voice  I think a funny/raspy/hoarse voice is okay  Other people think my voice is voice as “cute”.  I am quiet when I have a sore throat or I’ve lost my voice.  I have a lot of stress or tension.  I know how to relax myself when I feel stress or tension in my voice or body.  I lose my voice a lot  When I lose my voice, I try to speak louder so people will hear me.  I rest my voice before and after events that require a lot of talking, singing or yelling.  I clear my throat a lot  I drink one of the following daily: sodas, coffee, tea, or energy drinks  I yell to my family members from other rooms or outside  I turn the radio off or very low when I am speaking.  I warm up my voice every morning before I come to school.  I whisper when I am in quiet places.  I breathe through my mouth sometimes.  I talk for a long time without resting.  I sing loud enough that I can hear my self over the radio.  I do at least one vocal hygiene exercise daily  I think about and practice breathing  I use non-vocal methods to get the attention of other when it is noisy Adapted from a checklist found at: http://www.locutour.com/support/Checklists.php
