KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS - FATHER FRANK R. FLICEK COUNCIL #7021 - AUBURN, NE MEETING MINUTES – 9/18/10

Meeting Called to Order at 7:10 a.m., followed by prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Members present were Eric Fulton, Fr. Greg Pawloski, Al Dalbec, John Collins, Darren Butler, Bob Engles, Jim Florence, and field agent John Dunham.

Corrections to Minutes: None. The August meeting minutes were approved.

Chaplain’s Report: Fr. Greg mentioned that the beginning of the school year always reminds him that we as adults need to continue our religious education. Fr. Attended the Fr. Corapi conference in Omaha last weekend. Around 12,000 were in attendance at the Qwest Center in Omaha. The subject was “spiritual warfare.” A set of Fr. Corapi’s DVD’s is being ordered and may be used for an adult catechism class at the church. Everyone is encouraged to do their own catechesis at home with the Catechism book.

FS Report: Darren Butler.

Membership Report: Jerry Bulmer was not present.

Right to Life Report: Eric reminded the council that the “Forty Days for Life” campaign starts up again from September 22 to October 31. John and/or the council will be arranging one or more trips to Lincoln during the campaign to pray at the Planned Parenthood facility. All are encouraged to participate in the next campaign through prayer and fasting.

Evangelization Report: Bill Fulton was not present.

Field Agent’s Report: John Dunham introduced himself to the council.

District Deputy’s Report: Bernard Burenheide was not present.

Correspondence: None.

Old Business: - We will be working the AHS football concession stand on October 8th. Please contact Jim Florence if you are able to participate. - KVSS Spirit Catholic Radio is having their annual telethon. Al Dalbec made a motion that the council donate $100. Darren Butler seconded the motion. The motion carried. - A breakfast for the local Neighbor-to-Neighbor program will be tabled until Mel Halkens can attend. - We still have the leftover hot dogs and buns in the freezer from the confirmation retreat cookout. The officers will meet later and plan on what to do with the food. Probably serve on a Saturday evening after mass. - New foam for the booth seats in the café will cost about $9 per seat. Eric Fulton will purchase the foam and Bill Fulton will arrange a time to get together to refurbish the seats.

New Business: - Breakfast tomorrow in the Halligan Center from 8 am to noon. - A breakfast for Larry & Karen Waskowiak was discussed. October 17th was chosen as the date. Will advertise in the Johnson Rag. - It was decided to move the next RSVP seminarian breakfast from November to December. Hopefully in December Justin and/or Ben will be on break and able to attend. - Highway cleanup will be on Saturday, October 2nd. Meet at 8:00 am at the church. - Fred Zacarola asked about the coins he donated to the council several months ago. Eric Fulton stated that he has them but has not been able to do anything with them. Eric will get them back to Zac, who will make arrangements to get them sold and donate the proceeds to the council. - Darren Butler won the 50/50 raffle.
