Ignite Retreat Packing List

IgNite Retreat – Packing List

PURPOSE: The role of the IgNite retreat is to instill in the Class of 2017 an idea of who they are, who God is to them, and what it means to be part of Prep’s Ignatian community. The retreat provides for private spiritual reflection, common prayer, conversation, and play. We believe this day is beneficial to young men of all faiths, so ALL students are required to attend.

COST: Because the program is MANDATORY, Prep tuition covers the cost of the IgNite retreat.

DRESS: Comfortable clothing is encouraged. Graphic or inappropriate clothing (t-shirts for alcoholic beverages, etc.) is considered a disciplinary violation. PLEASE PACK LIGHTLY.

SLEEP: Students will sleep in the classrooms. Bring a sleeping bag and pillow. If you do not have a sleeping bag, bring two blankets/comforters (one for the floor, one to keep warm). Students should also pack pajamas or other bedtime attire. These belongings can be stored in the student’s homeroom.

MEALS: A full dinner and snacks will be served on Thursday, Sept. 5. Breakfast and lunch will be served on Friday, Sept. 6.

SHOWERS: Students will have the opportunity to shower on Thursday night or Friday morning in the gym locker room. Those planning on showering should pack a towel.

WHAT ELSE TO BRING:  Simple toiletries (toothbrush and travel toothpaste, deodorant, etc.)  Any required medications  Above mentioned items (change of clothes, bedding, towel if showering, etc.)

WHAT NOT TO BRING:  iPods and other electronics. There will be no opportunity to use them. Virtually all of the time set aside for the retreat is structured. Electronics will be confiscated and returned at the end of the retreat if they are seen.  Money, jewelry, and other expensive goods.

LABELS: Please be sure to LABEL all belongings. All overnight bags, sleeping bags, etc. should be clearly labeled with the student’s name. This is essential.

PROCEDURE: Bring your overnight bag and bedding supplies to Prep on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013.

SECURITY: Administrators and other employees will be on hand to supervise sleeping arrangements. Additionally, two security guards will patrol the Prep campus between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

PICK-UP: The retreat ends at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6.

QUESTIONS: Please contact Mr. Anthony Locricchio, Dean of Student Life, or Ms. Maura Toomb, Director of Campus Ministry, with any questions or concerns about the retreat. Should an emergency arise during the course of the retreat, they are the points of contact at Prep. Mr. Locricchio can be reached at (201) 547-6487 or [email protected].
