6:30 to 9:00 pm BHSU Night at Downtown Friday Nights; Spearfish Main Street, Spearfish Throughout the summer live music is showcased on Spearfish Main Street on Friday nights. There is food and drink available, kids’ activities, and booths for local businesses and organizations. Downtown Friday Nights is sponsored by the Spearfish Downtown Business Association. August 18 is designated BHSU Night to recognize and welcome faculty, staff and students. The Judd Hoos Band who provide music.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 20 4:45 – 5:30 pm Academic Orientation – Young Center Please plan to create a discipline-wide faculty meet-and-greet with some type of engaging activity or discussion. If your program is small and you would like to collaborate with another similar discipline, feel free to do so. This is an outstanding opportunity to get to know and positively impact the new students in your program and to solidify their belief that they have made a positive major choice. At 5:30, please plan to walk students to the Young Center and feel free to join them for dinner. 5:30 – 7:30 pm Campus Community Fair and Dinner – Young Center Field House Please bring your family to this fun event that celebrates the opening of the academic year. There are 2 complimentary meals already loaded onto your Buzz Card for this event, including dinner. You may purchase additional meals ($7 per person) at the event. We anticipate over 75 community and campus groups with tables and activities to welcome our students to campus.
