Supplies and REQUIRED Materials: - 5-subject spiral notebook -TI-83 or 84 Calculator – you will need this second semester - Pencils - Graph paper - Scotch tape, scissors

Classroom Expectations: 1. Be Prepared & On TIME! It is your responsibility to come to class prepared. Every day you will have the same routine. You need to have a sharpened pencil, homework out, and begin working on the warm up when the bell rings. There should be no question about what to do when class starts. 2. Be Responsible: You are responsible for your assignments. Work is not accepted after the day it is due unless you are absent. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get your missed assignments. Any missed work is due 5 days from the absence date. All missed work will be recorded as a zero until it has been turned in and graded. 3. Be Respectful: My name is not Bro, Dude, Hey you, yo, etc. Please address me with respect as I will you. Respect others and their property. Treat others’ property, as you would want yours to be treated. Listen when someone else is talking. You will get your turn. DO NOT walk around the room. If you need to throw something away, wait. If you need to sharpen a pencil, you should have spares. You do not need to be up and around the room while the teacher is teaching. Help keep the room clean. Please throw all trash away and place all classroom materials in their proper places before leaving the room. (again, not during a lesson) Disrespect for anyone or anything will not be tolerated. 4. Listen and Follow ALL Directions **All school rules apply as well.

Attendance: It is very important you are here every day! Remember, three tardies will result in an absence and any absences over three per nine weeks will need to be made up. Every day in class is important! If you do happen to miss a day, it is your responsibility to get your missed work. You should get all missed notes from a classmate and assignments from the assignment board. All previous assignments are due the day the student returns. All assignments missed are due within 5 days of your return to school.

**My advice if you are absent…come in during advisory or before school and I will get you caught up. This should be done as soon as you get back to school. The longer students wait, the harder it will be to get caught up. Math is difficult to teach yourself. When students who were absent come before school/during advisory to get caught up, I use the notes and part of the homework assignment to teach them the material so they are not only learning the material but getting their missed assignments made up as well. Grading: **Note: Work must always be shown unless otherwise stated. If you do not show work, you will not receive credit.** Tests ……………………...……………40% Quizzes…………….…………………..30% Homework/Classwork...... 30%  Tests: A test will be given at the completion of each unit. There will be a review the day before each test.  Quizzes: There will be at least one quiz per unit. Most, but not all, quizzes will be announced at least one day in advance. Some quizzes will be open-note. If you do your homework each night and ask questions in class, the quizzes will be a breeze for you. Quizzes are not meant to be difficult, but used to determine what you know and how well you know it. Because quiz grades are 30% of your total grade and we have a lot of them, a couple of low quiz grades will not hurt you too badly. A couple of low test scores will.  Homework: You will have homework almost every night. You should get in the habit of setting aside at least 30 minutes each night for math homework. Homework is graded on EFFORT, so there should be no reason not to receive a 100. Deductions will be made for incomplete homework (i.e. problems not attempted, work not shown, homework not in class, etc.). During class, you may ask questions about the homework. Take advantage of this opportunity. You will get a homework grade for each week, not each individual assignment.  Class Assignments: Some form of a class assignment will be given daily in order for students to see how much of the concept they understand.

Extra Help: I try to set aside Thursdays for weekly tutoring. During the fall season, I am coaching soccer and will not be able to stay after school as much. However, I am available in the mornings from 7:30-8:00 if you can come early. You may also email me any time you have a question. If you are stuck on something for homework, send me an email and I will try to respond as quickly as I can to give you some assistance.

Progress Reports: Progress Reports will be sent home approximately every 2-3 weeks. I expect to receive these back signed by your parent/guardian. Failure to do so will result in a parent contact.

Website: Please check my website for all information pertaining to this class. I will do my best to update it daily for what we did in class. I will also upload any materials I can that will help.
