The festival “Great Russian Literature and Language”

March 15th through May 24th, 2009.

The festival “Great Russian Literature and Language” is dedicated to popularizing the RUSSIAN language and literature, as well as raising the public consciousness of the image of the Russian culture and to support the preservation of the unique Russian traditions.

The Drawing & Crafts Contest “Great Russian Literature and Language”

The goals of the drawing contest:

 Revealing talents in children and teenagers;  Developing creativity in children and teenagers;  Stating the value and significance of the Russian Culture in our life. Contest Topics: the illustrations or crafts to Children favorite Russian book.

Contest Participants: Children 4-18 years old.

Contest Details:

The contest is held March 15th – May 24th, 2009. The contest is held in three age groups: - 4 – 8 years old - 9 – 13 years old - 14 – 18 years old Contest Rules:

1. One drawing & artwork & craft work per participant only will be accepted. 2. Any drawing or crafting materials may be used (water colors, oil, pencil, acryl, graphics, etc.) The participant is to provide the following information about him/herself:  Last and first name; age.  Title of the drawing.  Address, contact telephone.

Drawings and art/craft work must be submitted by May 1th, to the following address:

URAA, 12122 Moorcreek drive, Houston Texas 77070, or The bookstore “Natasha”: 9629 Hillcroft ave Houston Texas 77096.

Contest Awards: The finalists in all the contests will receive awards for each age group: The First Prize (The Winner’s Diploma) and the Memorabilia Prize (“pamyatny priz”). Contest participants will also be awarded special prizes for originality and design. The award ceremony will be held at the Festival of Great Russian Literature and Language on May 24st, 2009, which is also the Day of Slavic Culture and written language, at 2 p.m. in DEMER`s (8225 Cantrell, Houston, Texas, 77074)
