Know the Following Facts:  Both the French and English wanted Native American allies.  The Ohio River Valley linked French settlements in Canada and along the Mississippi River.  The French and British went to war from 1754-1763 in North America to compete over land, the fur trade, and the Ohio River Valley.  France lost the most land as a result of the French and Indian War.  The Spanish claimed most of the West Indies, Florida, and most of present-day South America.  The British took control of Florida from the Spanish at the end of the French and Indian War as a result of the Treaty of Paris.

**Be able to describe how Washington’s early life experiences, life at Mount Vernon, and/or his former military service in the French and Indian War prepared him to be the commander of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.** Extra Credit Hint: Join or Die- Know the history behind the Albany Plan of Union and the cartoon.
