Camfed Overview Camfed (the Campaign for Female Education) is internationally recognised as a leader in education for girls, for its child protection policy and practice, and as a voice for girls’ education and women’s empowerment at the highest levels. Founded in 1993, Camfed supports young women throughout their primary and secondary school years, into economic training and further education, and onto leadership, as role models, activists and philanthropists. Working in the poorest rural communities of five sub-Saharan countries: Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi, Camfed has supported a critical mass of educated girls with the high aspirations, confidence, and skills to lead broad social and economic change in their districts in order to eradicate poverty.

Innovative and entrepreneurial, Camfed has built a number of powerful and reciprocal relationships with high-profile partners, including The MasterCard Foundation, UK Department for International Development, the Skoll Foundation and Linklaters which have helped transform the lives of girls and women in rural Africa. Since 1993, we have supported two million children in school and trained over 100,000 young people in financial education and are highly ambitious to scale further.

Key Responsibilities The ideal Web Developer will have experience with HTML5, CSS, Java, JavaScript, Android Development, SQL and Amazon Web Services. As well as contributing to a great organisation, the successful Web Developer will receive a great benefit package on top of an excellent salary.

We are looking for a Web Developer to join our IT team working on both internal and external systems. The successful Web Developer will help Camfed maintain its significant growth by developing and maintaining the internal and external systems. Candidates will have excellent programming and problem solving skills, as well as a being a capable multi- tasker. The candidate must also have the ability to learn new technologies and have a keen interest in contributing to Camfed’s cause. Desired Qualities of the Applicant ● Web application development with strong HTML5/CSS skills ● Knowledge of Java ● Knowledge of SQL, PostgreSQL or MySQL ● Knowledge of JavaScript ● Knowledge of Android Application Development ● Knowledge of API integration ● Experience of working with Amazon Web Services(EC2/Route 53/RDS/S3/SES/SNS/SQS/CloudFront) ● Eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable but not required ● Salesforce ● Python/Rails/PHP Knowledge ● XMPP Knowledge ● Contributes to Open Source Projects ● Knowledge of Mobile Technologies (SMS/USSD)
