2007-08 Submission Guidelines CSU GE-Breadth and US History, Constitution, and American Ideals Review Process Revised November 28, 2006

 These guidelines are provided as a supplement to the annual call of outlines http://ciac.csusb.edu/ciac/.  All campuses are expected to submit their course outlines via OSCAR.  Proposed updates must be entered into OSCAR (http://info.assist.org/oscar.html) in final form by Friday, December 15, 2006. Revisions, corrections, or updates may not be accepted after this date.  Please send us by e-mail a copy of the OSCAR pdf reports for the GE-Breadth and US History, Constitution, and American Ideals (“AI”) areas for your institution. The reports, which list your submissions for this cycle, should be e-mailed to Judy Osman at [email protected] by Friday, December 16, 2006. From the OSCAR “Campus Summary” page, on the left sidebar, under the heading “PDF Reports,” select the button for CSU GE-Breadth and for CSU AI, which will produce the pdf reports.  Courses submitted for consideration must be transferable to the CSU.  The outlines must be in English.  The outlines submitted via OSCAR should provide information in all required fields (including the title, author, and publication date of sample textbooks or required readings). Outlines with texts more than seven years old may be rejected if more recently published texts are appropriate and readily available.  If an honors course paralleling a non-honors course is submitted, please provide information from the course outline of record (in the “other…” section of the OSCAR submission) detailing how the honors course differs from the non-honors course.  For IGETC Area 1C or CSU GE-Breadth Area A1, the “methods of instruction” and “methods of evaluation” sections of the outline(s) submitted must be very specific about how instruction and evaluation are conducted.  Only one outline should be submitted for cross-listed (“same as”) courses.  If the outlines have been automatically downloaded to OSCAR, please review and, if necessary, edit each one to make sure that all are readable and complete.  For this submission cycle, the CSU will not require original signatures. Submission by OSCAR will serve as authorization by the institution and campus that all course outlines have received the requisite official campus approvals.  Each campus Assist Manager will automatically be e-mailed the review decisions unless the campus notifies [email protected] that a different person should receive the decisions. Assist Managers are listed on the Assist Information Center ( http://info.assist.org/ ) under the “About ASSIST” link.  Questions on the use of OSCAR submissions may be directed to Dale Leaman at [email protected]. Please contact Chris Hanson [email protected] or Judy Osman [email protected] for questions about CSU policy.
