Mealtime Is Offering a Touch and Go System for Customer Identification. It Will Eliminate

Dear Parent,

Mealtime is offering a Touch and Go System for customer identification. It will eliminate the need for carrying ID cards. The student’s finger will be scanned for identifying points and stored so when the student touches the scanner his account will be available for purchases. This will reduce charges for new cards when meal cards have been misplaced, and will also reduce the risk of a student finding that card and trying to use it. No more standing in the back of the line for students who have lost or forgotten their meal card. Beginning soon students will be asked to scan their finger so it will be stored in the mealtime system. Once all students have had their finger scanned, we will put the system in place.

This system offers complete privacy and does not in any way store a copy of the students finger scan. The student is asked to scan the finger three times from which a unique number is generated for the student. The number is saved in the mealtime database and is the basis for identifying the student from this point on. As the only data that are kept is numerical, and the specific calculations to achieve that number are never the same, it is impossible to “go backward” from that number to create a finger print. These data are stored locally and not available to anyone outside of the food service internal network including the Meal Time vendor.

If you prefer your student not to take part in this up to date system, please fill out the form below and send it into the cafeteria manager.

If you have further questions about this new and exciting approach to our meal service program, please do not hesitate to call.
