PURPOSE OF JOB TO PROVIDE AN EFFICENT PASTORAL SUPPORT SERVICE FOR MATTERS RELATING TO Y7/KS3/KS4, AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL EFFECTIVE ADMINISTRATION OF THE MULTI ACADEMY TRUST ______(October 2016)

D:\Docs\2017-12-29\0ea26aefb3ef62975d3ac813a1786e35.doc The post holder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities within the spirit of Silverdale Multi Academy Trust policies and within the framework of legislation relating to Academies and Education, with particular regard to the statutory responsibilities of the Trust and the Governing Body of the School.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To be responsible for supporting pupils and key stage leaders, pastoral and administrative, including the maintenance and development of systems and processes to the standards required by the Silverdale Multi Academy Trust and the appropriate regulatory bodies. This will include, but not be limited to:

SUPPORT FOR PUPILS  Provide pastoral support to pupils  Receive and supervise pupils excluded from, or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable (by arrangement with the KS4, KS3 and Y7 Leaders)  Attend to pupils’ personal needs and provide advice to assist in their social, health & hygiene development (a First Aid Certificate will be required)  Participate in the identification of pupils to determine those in need of particular help  Respond to emotional, social, health and well-being issues of pupils, and their families, where difficult or challenging making the appropriate referral  Assist in resolution of conflicts using Team Teach techniques as appropriate  Assist the KS4, KS3 and Year 7 Leaders with the development and implementation of plans such as - Individual Education/ Behaviour/ Support/ Mentoring  Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model to challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce their self- esteem  Establish 1:1 mentoring arrangements with pupils and provide support for distressed pupils  Assist the speedy/effective transfer of pupils across phases/integration of those who have been absent  Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning/behaviour/attendance (in consultation with KS4, KS3 and Year 7 Leaders)  Provide feedback along with key staff to pupils in relation to progress, achievement, behaviour, attendance etc. (as requested by KS4, KS3 and Year 7 Leaders). SUPPORT FOR THE TEACHER  Liaise with feeder schools and other relevant bodies to gather pupil information  Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses and progress against individual plans (e.g. behaviour reports)  Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required, to other staff regarding pupils’ achievements, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence (collating information from teachers, KS4, KS3 and Year 7 Leaders).  Be responsible for keeping and updating records in the appropriate management information systems (MIS), as agreed with other staff, and contributing to reviews of systems/records as requested

D:\Docs\2017-12-29\0ea26aefb3ef62975d3ac813a1786e35.doc  Dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information about pupils and parents/carers – including disclosures, safeguarding, information from primary or previous schools about pupil’s home life, illnesses, special educational needs.  Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies  Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers, exchanging information, facilitating their support for their child’s attendance, access and learning and supporting home to school and community links. Including difficult issues regarding their child.  Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and administration of systems relating to attendance and integration. Including identification of groups and working with appropriate parents, carers, Education Welfare Officer etc to encourage improvement.  Assist in the production of relevant key stage marketing materials for events, prospectus, including organisation of open evenings and other appropriate events.  Working to the standards set for the whole school administration team - provide Key Stage Leaders with admin support e.g. dealing with correspondence, enquiries, making phone calls, compilation/ analysis/reporting on attendance, exclusions, etc  Covering Key Stage office duties when Key Stage Leaders teaching etc and unavailable  Act as the first point of contact for general pastoral enquiries from staff within the school, parents/carers, outside agencies etc,

SUPPORT FOR THE MULTI ACADEMY TRUST

 Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person  Be aware of and support difference, ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop  The organisation and management of appropriate school events as required  Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/ professionals, in liaison with the KS3/KS4 and Year 7 Leaders, to support the achievement and progress of pupils  Attend and participate in relevant and appropriate regular meetings  Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others  Assist in the supervision, training and development of staff  Implement planned supervision of pupils out of school hours  Supervise pupils on visits, trips and out-of-school activities as required  From time to time, to meet the needs of the school, you may be asked but not automatically expected to work hours additional to your normal working hours. The school will give you as much notice as possible and you will be paid/recompensed for such work. Examples where this might be required are for example; relevant key school events such as Open Evenings, exam results days, trips, clubs, training etc.  Assist with the clerical duties of the administration team as required from time to time and as appropriate to your role  Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of Silverdale Multi Academy Trust  Participate in relevant training, other learning activities and performance management as required

 Ensure display boards and leaflet displays, etc are kept up to date and in D:\Docs\2017-12-29\0ea26aefb3ef62975d3ac813a1786e35.doc good order as appropriate and required  To undertake any other duties and responsibilities, commensurate with the level of the post, as may be determined after negotiation between management, the postholder and appropriate trade unions.

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES All administration and clerical staff at Silverdale Multi Academy Trust are considered part of the overall admin support team and may be required to provide assistance to colleagues in other areas from time to time.
