Special note on Emotional Safety in the classroom
Sharing, viewpoints and Safety:
a) ALL points of view from ALL cultures and influences are encouraged to be shared openly by the students and discussed.
b) Please be careful to always try to demonstrate understanding, fairness and compassion to other’s view points and personal stories. You do not need to always agree but strive to understand why they feel the way they do.
c) Along with that, you are usually not entitled to an opinion “just because”. However you should always have a view point based on your influences, experiences or researched facts.
In short, be able to explain why you think or feel the way you do and try to understand why someone else may disagree.
Sometimes, students will choose to open up and if the door is shut, It does not leave the room unless Mr. Corabi has to legally report it. All students must also hold true to this confidential environment. Students may share with their parents/guardians anything Mr. Corabi says even if door is shut. Students and Parents/Guardians are encouraged to clarify things with Mr. Corabi whenever the need comes about.
Parents/Guardians or students themselves may request for their child to be excluded from any topic for religious, emotional or personal reasons at any time. Topics will be posted on the google classroom a week in advance. If exclusion request longer than one day, an alternative assignment will be given relative to the reasoning where an exclusion is requested Students may not be excluded from the entire course.
