MINUTES OF JOINT POLICING SUB COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, 15th JULY 2013 AT 11.30 A.M

Update from Sub Group – Report of Sub Group : Trespass at Belcamp lands adjacent to Newtown Court Order: Jim Kelly updated the Committee regarding the illegal occupation of Belcamp Lands d. Drug related intimidation report by Project Office of Garda National Drugs Unit – Order: A representative from the National Family Support Network gave a comprehensive presentation on Drug Related Intimidation Reporting Programme. The purpose of this programme is to respond to the needs of drug users and family members who are experiencing drug related intimidation. e. Report of Chief Superintendent. Order: Chief Superintendent updated the Committee in respect of policing the DMR North Division.

Operation Acer is operating and is very effective in reducing the number of Burglaries and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Chief Superintendent alerted the Committee to SMS Phishing.

Operation Irene has been implemented . The focus of this operation is policing actions to be implemented at identified hot spots, such as public parks and open spaces which may have experienced an increase in anti-social behaviour associated with alcohol consumption. The operation will continue until 31/08/2013. f. Performance measurement and Garda statistics. Order: Chief Superintendent provided statistics for Crime Figures for DMR North Division g. Suggested Youth involvement with JPC structure report by DCC Area office Order: Jim Lee to examine Youth Engagement h. Draft North Central JPC Sub Committee Bulletin July 2013 Order: Draft Bulletin distributed to Committee i. Influence of parents on reducing substance abuse: the Icelandic model – detailed proposal to recommend to Citywide JPC Order: Modify report j. Issues relating to the control, regulation and sale of alcohol in pubs/off licences--- Order: Noted k. Issues relating to court objections to renewal of licences or late night extension licences due to public disorder or nuisance associated with premises ( pubs and off-licences) Order: Noted
