Lewis J. Walker, M.B.A., CFP®, CRC®

Lewis Walker is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and has been in independent practice as a financial planner and Registered Investment Advisor since 1976. He is President of Walker Capital Management Corporation and Life Transitions Advisors, LLC, planning and investment advisory firms located in Peachtree Corners, GA, a northern suburb of Atlanta.

Educational credits include an undergraduate degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Washington, D.C., and a M.B.A. from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. Mr. Walker achieved his Certified Financial Planner® designation from the College for Financial Planning, Denver, CO, in 1975.

A recognized speaker, Mr. Walker has appeared on numerous local and nationally aired news shows and financial management programs. Lewis has conducted seminars and workshops on a myriad of financial and investment topics around the U.S. and abroad, for colleges and universities, professional associations, convention groups, and corporations. He authors a column on financial life planning trends for the JOURNAL OF FINANCIAL PLANNING. His weekly column, The Investment Coach™, is featured in Atlanta’s THE DUNWOODY CRIER newspaper and is carried on a number of financial industry websites..

He has been recognized as one of the leading financial advisors in the U.S. by MONEY, WORTH, FINANCIAL PLANNER, INVESTMENT ADVISOR, and FINANCIAL ADVISOR magazines. For several years running, Lewis has been named a Five Star Wealth Manager, Best In Client Satisfaction, by Atlanta magazine.

Lewis served as national president of the Institute for Certified Investment Management Consultants (ICIMC) from 1998-1999. As chairman, 1999-2000, Lewis helped to facilitate the merger of the ICIMC into the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).

From 1986-1988, Lewis served as national president and chairman of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners (ICFP), headquartered in Denver, CO. In January 2000, the ICFP joined with the International Association of Financial Planners (IAFP) to form the Financial Planning Association (FPA). In 1999, the International Foundation for Retirement Education (InFRE) awarded Lewis the designation of Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC®).

In 2002, Lewis was a first recipient of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Georgia HONORS award. HONORS recognizes Georgians who have made a significant contribution to the development of the financial planning profession. In April 2004, The Money Management Institute (MMI) recognized Lewis with its prestigious Managed Account Pioneer Award, citing his work in the blending of holistic financial planning precepts with fee-based separate account management.

Lewis was the 2011 winner of the P. Kemp Fain, Jr. Award, the highest award conferred by the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Honored at the 2011 FPA convention in San Diego, 1 California, the award recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the financial planning profession.

Lewis is the founder of The Life Transitions University® (LTU). LTU is training financial advisors in holistic planning techniques, conversations, and processes involving major life transitions events—planning for retirement, dealing with the challenges of aging, healthcare, and special needs (The Family Care Culture™).

In May of 2012 Lewis completed an e-book, published by FPA Press, applying a fiduciary ethos to the challenges of aging, health care, and special needs. Entitled Planning for the Challenges of Aging, Healthcare, and Special Needs, Volume II of Fiduciary Ethos: Living in a Fiduciary World, the Phoenix, the book is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the I- Bookstore.

Lewis and his wife, Helen, live in Johns Creek, GA. They have two grown children and four grandchildren.
