Worshiping the God of Glory s2

WORSHIPING THE GOD OF GRACE March 19, 2017 - 10:30 AM Please turn off all communication devices. Hearing Assistance Devices and Large Print Bibles are available; please ask an Usher. Children’s Bulletins and “Quiet Bags” are available at the Welcome Table.

PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP All Creatures of Our God and King Arr. by John Hudson Please take this time to quietly meditate on the following Scripture passage as you prepare your heart to worship the Lord. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart. Genesis 1:27, Ecclesiastes 3:11 (ESV)

*CALL TO WORSHIP Acts 17:24-28 (ESV) As God’s Word calls us to worship, let’s shout these words to one another recognizing that our worship is a response to God’s gracious call. Leader: The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, People: nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. Leader: And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth…, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. ALL: Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for "In him we live and move and have our being.”

PRAYER OF CONFESSION After the public confession below, you are encouraged to confess your sins silently to God. Lord, You have promised that if we will confess our sins You are faithful and just to forgive our sins. We come in penitence, seeking Your forgiveness that we may know the joy of Your presence and the light of Your face. You alone know how often we have offended You and hurt the lives of others. Forgive us, O Lord, for every unkind thought, every untrue word, every wrong act. Forgive us, for we have been selfish and have not thought of the needs of others. Forgive us for our ingratitude, our neglect of prayer, our carelessness in the use of money, our forgetfulness of our sacred vows. O God, have mercy on us. Create in us clean hearts and renew a right spirit within us for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen!

COMFORT AND ASSURANCE OF THE GOSPEL 1 Peter 3:18; Matthew 28:20b (ESV) For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

*GREETING OF PEACE Ephesians 6:23-24 (ESV) Please take this opportunity to greet those around you, offering them the right hand of fellowship and the peace which is only found in Christ. Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with love incorruptible.

*For those who are able, please stand. CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER Ephesians 6:18 (ESV) [Pray] at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.

WORSHIPING THE LORD WITH HIS TITHES AND OUR OFFERINGS Please take a moment to sign our “Fellowship Pad” and pass it along to those worshiping with you. Thank you! The offering is a vital part of our response to God and God’s Word. It helps us connect our adoration for God with our life of discipleship. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21 (ESV)

OFFERTORY Glorious, Indescribable by Cindy Berry

The reading and preaching of God’s Word stands at the center of worship and constitutes one of the privileged moments of worship. The power of God’s Word comes not from the ink and paper of our printed Bibles or from the creative rhetoric of a preacher but from the work of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit has inspired Scripture and now works in the community of faith to use the proclamation of the Word to comfort, challenge, correct, inspire, and deepen the faith and life of God’s people.
