Rector and host 18 the Church Dedication Service for its new sanctuary and 19 Fellowship and Teen Center on Sunday, May 23, 2004; and 20 21 Whereas, established as a church in 1925, the Piney Grove 22 Missionary Baptist Church originally began as a Brush Harbor in 23 the early 1900’s and later served as a schoolhouse; and 24 25 Whereas, through Pastor Rector, Piney Grove Missionary Baptist 26 Church was rebuilt and construction completed in May of 1992; 27 and 28 29 Whereas, with expanding membership, Piney Grove again was 30 compelled to enlarge its facilities and began construction of a new 31 sanctuary in August of 2003. The former church was reorganized 32 into a Fellowship and Teen Center, and both structures were 33 completed in April 2004; and 34 35 Whereas, Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church has been a voice 36 in the community in the area of education and endeavors to 37 promote youth and adults to continue to strive for excellence; and 38 39 Whereas, in addition to promoting health fairs and environmental 40 issues, the church emphasizes the role of senior citizens as valued 41 leaders and embraces their wisdom in shaping and molding their 42 community and heritage; and

1 [5334] 1 1 2 Whereas, the vision of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church is 3 “to make provision for generations and generations to come”, and 4 the House of Representatives is pleased to recognize this church 5 for its efforts in looking towards the future. Now, therefore, 6 7 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 8 9 That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of 10 South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and pay tribute to 11 Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cowpens, South 12 Carolina, on the occasion of its Church Dedication Service on 13 Sunday, May 23, 2004. 14 15 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 16 Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cowpens, South 17 Carolina. 18 ----XX---- 19
