THANK YOU: to the Families Who Shared Their Garden Produce with Me This Year. I Was Able

PASTOR’S CORNER – October 15, 2017

THANK YOU: To the families who shared their garden produce with me this year. I was able to enjoy many bacon and fresh garden tomatoes sandwiches during the season. Also, thank you to everyone who helped maintain the lawns, cemetery and parish campus during the Summer Season it looked great. All of you are wonderful examples of stewardship in the parishes.

OCTOBER PRO-LIFE ACTIVITES:  Flags displayed around Saint Rose of Lima campus remind us of human life destroyed by abortions.  Inserts/handouts reminding us and promoting human life from the moment of conception to natural death.  Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, Sunday, October 15, 2017. 15-25% of pregnancies/births end tragically in miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, still birth, SIDS, or the death of a baby in their first year of life. There is a specific day dedicated in remembrance for those precious babies and to provide support to all the parents, siblings, grandparents, relatives, and friends affected.  St. Rose Right to Life meeting, Thursday, October 26 at 7:30 a.m. immediately following communion services in the morning. Please join us in making a difference in all aspects of preserving life from conception to natural death. All ages welcome.

SNOW REMOVAL 2017-18: Thank you to Roger Sprakel who helped coordinate big snow removal for the church parking lots and cemetery plots for funerals over the years. He has stepped down as coordinator. I need someone to fill this position as snow removal coordinator, please. I also need a group of people to remove small snowfall (1 to 2 inches) around the school sidewalks and Religious Education Center during the weekday mornings 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. before school begins and again at 2:00 p.m., clearing the same sidewalks during the weekday afternoon. I will take care of the church rectory sidewalks. I need your help please. Call Father Tim Podraza soon before it starts snowing! 402-388-4814. ***Thank You***

Parent Seminar: Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Sacred Heart, Norfolk from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. “In a society that promotes cheap, fleeting sex at ever younger ages, it has never been more important to promote the true meaning of love, sex and intimacy—a meaning that far surpasses anything the world offers. Come and learn how every parish and Catholic school in the Archdiocese is being invited to give parents the knowledge and support they need to discuss what is often (but does not have to be!) an uncomfortable topic with their children and help families develop closer relationships. Presented by speaker/radio personality/author of LovEd, Coleen Kelly Mast. Visit Family.ArchOmaha.org/respecting-life/sexuality. NOTE: If parents are interested in attending the Parent Seminar please call Father Tim Podraza 402-388-4814 or read handout/flier in the parish bulletin. No cost to attend. THE STORY OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA - Many people do not know the story of Fatima. This article will highlight the story of Fatima. “The Third Apparition: “So Lucia looking up towards Our Lady, her eyes filled with loving devotion, asked, What do you want of me? Here is the conversation: “Our Lady of Fatima said: “I want you to return here on the thirteenth of next month, the Lady said. Continue to say the Rosary to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war; for she alone can save it… Continue to come here every month. In October, I will say who I am and what I desire and I will perform a miracle all shall see so that they believe.” Our Lady answered Lucia’s prayer request. “Some I will cure and others not. As to the crippled boy, I will not cure him or take him out of his poverty, but he must say the Rosary every day with his family.” The case of a sick person, our Blessed Mother said, “He should not try to hurry things. I know well when I shall come for him.” Finally Our Lady of Fatima told the children, “Sacrifice yourselves for sinners; and say often, especially when you make some sacrifice: ‘My Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation, for sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary’”.” More next week.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: St. Rose Parish will have a scheduled Mass to honor Our Lady of Fatima 100th Anniversary, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 9:00 a.m., Saint Rose of Lima Church, Crofton. Mass will include: special full choirs singing during Mass, prayers/consecration to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart, special reflections on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary, and a Marion essay by a Saint. The statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be place by the altar in October. Please bring your garden flowers, mums, and cut flowers and fill the sanctuary during October! This is to Honor our Blessed Mother, Mary. We love her so much. Now is the time to go public and let everyone know that we are Disciples of Christ who love His Mother, Mary.

DIVINE MERCY: Please personally experience God’s loving mercy for us by going to confession often. Begin with examination of conscience. “How to Confess: 5. Conclude with, “For these sins and all others I have forgotten or did not discern, I am truly sorry.” More next week.

FOOD PANTRY: Throughout October please donate pudding packs and on-the-shelf cartons of juice for hungry children to start the school day. Your donations go to families in need around the area. Please be generous.

Pray: “that we will respond generously to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal as an outward sign of our compassion for those in need and as an acknowledgement of our membership in the body of Christ of the Archdiocese of Omaha”, “for the victims of the shooting in Las Vegas and for the families who are grieving”, “for good weather for farmers and for their safety during the Fall Harvest”, “for restless hearts and division in the world, nation, and the town of Crofton to know God’s forgiveness and healing power in the heart”. SAINT PAUL’S teaching concerning restless hearts and division among communities. “In the name of the encouragement you owe me in Christ, in the name of the solace that love can give, of fellowship in spirit, compassion by your unanimity, possessing the one love, united in spirit and ideals. Never act out of rivalry or conceit; rather, let all parties think humbly of others’ as superior to themselves, each of you looking to others’ interests rather than his own. YOUR ATTITUDE MUST BE CHRIST.” (Philippians 1:27-2:11).

Have you considered remembering our parish as a beneficiary of your retirement plan?
