APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT AS A TRUST BOARD MEMBER
The Northern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust is responsible for the care, control and management of the Field of Mars Cemetery, Macquarie Park Cemetery, Frenches Forest Cemetery , Gore Hill Memorial Cemetery and Sandgate Cemetery. These are public Crown cemeteries managed pursuant to the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2013 and Crown Lands Act 1989. The board of the Trust is responsible for managing Trust affairs in accordance with the relevant provisions of these Acts and the Crown Lands (General Reserves) By-law 2006.
The terms of office of sitting trust board members expire in November 2015. Applications are therefore invited from persons interested in being considered for appointment as a board member. Applicants should indicate whether they would like to be considered for the position of chair of the board.
Appointments will be made by the Minister for Land & Water under section 74 of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2013. The term of office will be for a period not exceeding 5 years. Board members are entitled to be paid such remuneration as the Minister may from time to time determine. The board meets at least four times a year and board members are expected to serve on board committees.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate professional expertise, qualifications or experience that is relevant to the functions exercisable by the board. Capability in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:
Accountancy Community engagement Financial management Not-for-profit operations Law Business/commercial acumen Environmental management Cultural diversity & religious practices Heritage Conservation Regulatory compliance Risk management
Applications should include a covering letter of no more than two pages and an up-to-date resume of no more than five pages that details the applicant’s knowledge, skills and experience in relation to the above. Applications should be lodged by 6 September 2015 by email to [email protected] .
