POSITION TITLE: NIGHT SHIFT CADRE TEAM LEADER SALARY: $2,893/MONTH WORKSHIFT: 9:15 PM – 5:45 AM (as determined by the Supervisor) LOCATION: Rantoul, IL LCA #17-010

EXAMPLE OF WORK: Under the immediate supervision of the Cadre Night Shift Supervisor (Night Shift Team Leader), performs routine custodial and supervisory functions at the Lincoln’s Challenge Academy. Maintains order and safety of assigned cadets and obtains specialized experience in the development and skills training of cadets. Assists the Cadre Night Shift Supervisor (Night Shift Team Leader) in the care and supervision of cadets, but not limited to, the following:

 Assists in the accountability of assigned cadets for the night safety of large numbers of cadets at sleep. Provides assistance in response to serious incidents and emergencies when required. Makes periodic fire checks, quiets disturbed floors, and reports all illnesses to the Cadre Night Shift Supervisor (Night Shift Team Leader). Provides assistance when transporting ill cadets to the hospital when deemed necessary. Conducts random floor counts to ensure accountability of all cadets in the LCA. Reports missing or unaccounted for cadets to the Cadre Night Shift Supervisor (Night Shift Team Leader) promptly.

 Ensures cadets are prepared in the morning hours for oncoming shift. Handles cadet incidents and problems and submits reports to appropriate staff when required. Provides assistance to evening shift when necessary to ensure cadets are showered, quiet, and ready for sleep.

 Participates in night shift activities and on the job training conducted by the Cadre Night Shift Supervisor (Night Shift Team Leader) regarding leadership, team dynamics, and enforcement of cadet standards. Physically restrains cadets with aggressive behavior to restore order in accordance with policy and procedure.

 Provides relief of other staff when necessary for breaks. Maintains alertness at all times while on shift.

 Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires the completion of High School or GED. Requires three years progressive military experience. Requires satisfactory completion of a four-year active military service tour or a six- year National Guard or Reserve component enlistment or tour, or Military retirement (20 years creditable service). Must have received an honorable discharge from the military service. Requires completion of Initial Entry

Training (IET) with award of a Primary-Military Occupational Specialty/Special Skill Indicator. Completion of Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC) or equivalent course preferred

KSA’s: Requires knowledge of military structure and procedures. Requires the ability to manage a team and maintain a military atmosphere conducive to the development of cadets. Requires the ability to establish patterns of communication with cadets. Requires the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to present verbal and written reports. Requires physical strength and ability to carry out physical restraint procedures when necessary. Requires a valid Illinois driver's license and the ability to obtain a CDL driver’s license within six (6) months from the date of employment.

EMPLOYMENT STIPULATIONS:  This is an announcement for a Personal Services Contract for the Lincoln’s Challenge Academy and the State of Illinois. At this time, this contract does not provide for medical, dental or life insurance and state retirement plans are not available.
