February Speech Newsletter
Hello Parents,
The monthly theme for February is community helpers and Valentine’s Day! Below is a schedule of weekly themes for speech therapy for the month.
Books Music - “What Do You Want To Be?” by Ellisworth YouTube: - “What Do You Want To Bed” by Ellisworth Career Day (The Bazillions) - “I’m a firefighter” by Packard People Song (Super Simple Learning) - “All Around The Busy Town” By Valentine’s Day Song For Children Breakstone (KIBOOMU KIDS SONGS) Music Hurry, Hurry Drive the Fire truck Other Educational Videos People Work (Nursery Rhymes & Kids Songs)
Throughout the month, we will be naming and describing community helpers (firefighters, policeman, doctor, nurse) and where they work (Hospital, police station, firehouse). We will also be talking about Valentine’s Day and using colors, shapes, emotions and adjectives to describe the day. We will be using verbs associated with community helpers (put out fires, help people, pick up garbage) and adjectives associated with community helpers (fast, strong, helpful, brave). When at home, practice the vocabulary for the month by describing any community helpers you may see in books or on the TV. When walking outside or going to the store, point out different community helpers within your own community. Drive by fire stations or the police station and point out a few of the people working there. This will help your child become familiar with the location and a visual of what “safe” adults look like in case of emergency.
