At the heart of our school is a focus on developing local community links and as such we undertake a growing range of events. We recently celebrated Tihar/Holi with members of the local Nepalese community and were visited by a Holocaust survivor as part of our memorial day. We also undertake a range of outreach activities with our local primary schools supported by extra-curricular activities such as an activity based summer school. Following 5 years of progressive academic improvement the schools’ students achieved their best every results in 2012, the highlights of these are: 90% of GCSE students gained 5 good GCSE passes 48% of GCSE students gained 5 good GCSE passes including English and Mathematics 96% of sixth form students recorded a pass rate at A2 27 sixth formers progressed to university This success was recognised in the recent full Ofsted inspection which took place in February 2013 which rated the school as Good in all areas. The school is currently at the start of our planned journey from Good to Outstanding following a reorganisation of the internal structure and exploring options of development into an Academy. The new structure comprises of three Colleges; two formed of KS3 and KS4 students with the third dedicated to Post 16 students. All students, teaching staff and the majority of support staff are allocated to a College which has developed an environment where staff develop and maintain excellent relationships with students and their parents/carers. We are looking to appoint an individual who has the ability to manage a diverse team of teaching and support staff within a College, whilst taking an innovative approach to help lead the school from Good to Outstanding. The ideal candidate will be able to take ownership of the school’s vision:
‘Every student at Pent Valley Technology College will achieve their academic, personal and social potential. They will achieve this within a technologically rich environment and through a personalised experience designed around real life and world of work contexts and nurtured by strong community principles of equality, achievement and pride’
