Famous Scientist Special Assignment

Just imagine how your life would be different without things like a scotch tape, a camera, a microwave oven, a telephone, or even a vaccine against chicken pox. All of those things were invented or discovered by a scientist and/or mathematician. How much do you know about the geniuses that have made our society what it is today? How would the world be different if they hadn't existed? How has your life been affected because of them?

Procedure: You will use the internet to research a famous scientist, mathematician or inventor who discovered or made something that you use in your everyday life. You will need to find out about their life, what things they discovered or invented, and how those discoveries or inventions affect your everyday life in 2011.

Requirements: You must use a variety of research materials, internet, books and articles. Your project must have a minimum of 5 pieces of research (different websites, journals or books) and show how this person has influence your life and the way we live today.

Project Format: You will choose a special assignment from your packet to display your information, the assignment you choose should show a connection to the person you are researching also, you must follow all directions for that special assignment including the use of color. You will need to write at least 3 paragraphs for your explanation (even if the directions say only 2). Your 3 paragraphs should include these topics: their life, what things they discovered or invented, and how those discoveries or inventions affect your everyday life in 2011.
