10/6/08 Football The Varsity Football team shut out RHAM on Saturday with a score of 25-0. Scoring for the Indians were Jack Hayes '10 with 1, Sean Murphy '09 with 1, and Jake Golic '09 with 2. Ryan Strid '12 kicked an extra point. Justin Strid '10, Tony Cicero '09, Theo Agnew '09, Kevin Boya '09, and Matt Visintainer '10 all played well on defense. The next game is on Saturday under the lights at East Catholic; game time, 7pm. Volleyball The Varsity Volleyball team beat St. Paul 3-1 last Friday. Outside hitter Rebecca Masciocchi '09 led NWC offensively with 8 kills, and setter Jenn Braun '09 dished out 12 assists. Middle hitter Uju Nwankwo '10 anchored the front-row defense with 4 solo blocks, and setter Meghan Feeney '10 had 19 digs. JV Volleyball also emerged victorious, beating St. Paul 2-0. Haley Heslin '10 and Morgan Green '10 both played well. Their next game is tomorrow at Ellington.
Field Hockey Varsity Field Hockey beat Immaculate on Friday, 4-2. Scoring for the team were Catherine Hijeck '09 with 1, Kelsey Foto '10 with 1, and Laura Hannifan '09 with 2. The JV team played to a tie with Immaculate; everyone played very well. Their next game is Friday against Somers. Girls' Soccer The Girls' Varsity Soccer team beat St. Paul on Friday, 7-1. Scoring for the Indians were Mary Frailey '10, Devon Soucier '10, Lauren Backhaus '11, and Lindsey Koss '12. Shealagh Begley '09 scored a hat trick. Everyone played very well; the next game is tomorrow against RHAM.
Boys' Soccer Varsity Boys' Soccer shut out St. Paul on Friday, 6-0. Scoring were Omari Comrie '09, Jordan Daniel '11, and Zack Boorman '10 with 2 goals each. Their next game is today at home against Berlin. JV Boys' Soccer also won 7-1 on Friday; Ryan McCue '10 and Tim Hopkins '11 both played well. Cross Country The Boys' Cross Country team competed in the Greater Hartford Invitational on Saturday. In the freshman race, Brian Poirier finished 4th and Jack Peterson 12th. Ryan Geelan '11 ran well in the JV race. In the Varsity race John Whiting '09 placed 10th, Eric Kennedy '10 15th, Luke Pelton '10 23rd, and Mike Bonfatto '09 31st. The Girls' Cross Country team also ran well on Saturday. Kelly Yorio '11, Kylie Steadman '09, Christine Smith '10, and Katie Vignati '11 ran very well. They meet again Tuesday at Middletown. 10/7/08
Football JV Football beat RHAM yesterday, 30-24. Ras Morgan '11 had 4 touchdowns. Aaron Wilson '12, and Ben Van Schaack '10 also played well. Boys' Soccer JV Boys' Soccer tied a hard-fought game yesterday, 2-2; the team remains undefeated. Varsity Soccer won 1-0; the goal was scored by Jordan Daniel '11 with the assist from Omari Comrie '09. Pat Kearney '10, Ryan Siegel '10, Louis Clayton IV '11, and Zack Boorman '10 also played well.
10/8/08 Girls' Soccer JV Girls' Soccer played to a 2-2 tie yesterday against RHAM. The girls played an aggressive second half, with 2 goals scored by Emma Kate Mortillaro '12 and Rachel Duncan '12. Girls' Varsity won an outstanding game against RHAM, 2-1 in overtime. Goals were scored by Morgan Mencio '12 and Shealagh Begley '09. Their next game is Friday at Middletown. Boys' Soccer The JV boys' soccer team beat RHAM, 1-0 on Tuesday. The goal was scored by Luis Rosado '11. Playing well were Connor Deneen '10, and Ben Paine '10. Boys' Varsity lost a hard-fought game. Their next game is this Friday against Middletown. Volleyball Girls' JV Volleyball lost a hard game to Ellington yesterday. Morgan Green '10 and Mary Deneen '12 played well. Varsity Girls' also lost a hard-fought game in 5 matches. Playing well were Uju Nwankwo '10 with 6 blocks and Caitlin Kearns '09 with 22 digs. Their next match is today against RHAM.
Cross Country The Boys' Cross Country team beat Middletown yesterday 21-40. John Whiting '09 and Nico Greco '10 finished 1st and 2nd, followed by Luke Pelton '10 in 5th, Eric Kennedy '10 in 6th, Mike Bonfatto '09 in 7th and Brian Poirier '12 in 8th. For the Girls, running well were Christine Smith '10, Kelly Yorio '11, Kylie Steadman '09, Katie Vignati '11, and Caroline Garger '10. They meet again this Saturday for the Wickham Invitational. 10/9/08
Volleyball Varsity Girls' Volleyball lost a hard-fought game to RHAM yesterday 3-0. Playing well for the team were Caitlin Kearns '09 with 10 digs and Uju Nwankwo '10 and Katie Ulrich '09 with a total of 5 blocks. JV also lost but played very well and will meet again on Friday against Middletown. 10/10/08
Football The Freshman football team beat East Catholic yesterday, 44-6. Aaron Wilson '12 scored three touchdowns, Tyler Calitri '12 threw a touchdown pass, and Christian Farrell '12 added another. The coaching staff cited a strong defense that allowed East only one touchdown.
