4. SAGE data - PowerPoint The PowerPoint presentation is online on the DPMS website under the “community” and “SCC” tabs. DPMS had a total 441 out of 600 points, which amounted to an “A” school grade, and it was the top score in the district. The 600 points are broken down to 300 points for achievement and 300 points for growth. Each 300 points has 200 points for all students and 100 points for below proficiency students, which makes them count twice. Overall: Science score is the best Below proficiency students grow more than all students category. 5. Drop off & Pick up It seems to work better, more parents are dropping off earlier. Communication is important, messages went out to parents. Cones work. If principals are not out there, some parents stop following the procedure to pull all the way forward. Let’s ask Student Council to help out. Offer COURAGE cards to families who do pull forward? COURAGE violations for those who don’t? We don’t want to punish students for their parents’ behavior.

6. Meeting schedule Bylaws say the meetings will be held every third Thursday of the month, except December, June, July, August. Dates are: Oct 22, Nov. 19, Jan. 21, Feb. 18, Mar. 17, Apr. 21, and May 19.

7. Other What is the goal of the Honors program? The schedule should be rigorous. Rumors say that Honors is no different than regular class. Who gets into Honors? Test scores are a big factor to get into Honors., CFA math exam will be given three times per year and can be given to transfer students to find out where they are at academically. Another problem is class size. Register as early as you can. Teacher recommendation will not be taken into consideration, because a teacher might not know how proficient the other Honor students are. We will look for a pathway for transfer-students to register for Honor classes. This topic will be put on the agenda for next month for further discussion. The curriculum for honor classes used to be the same as the regular classes, but it would go deeper and have a class project. That has changed, now honor classes have added a unit, so they go at a faster pace.

Will we get more lockers? They are approved, but the company is backlogged and may not deliver until December. We will encourage students who don’t use their lockers to give them back, maybe for COURAGE cards, maybe for candy?

This year, DPMS is two classrooms short. One computer lab was turned into a classroom, and at the end of the 2700 hall, a wall is being put up to form another classroom. Next year we will need at least two portables, maybe four.

Boundary changes that the district is discussing will affect DPMS as well.

8. Next meeting: Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 3 p.m. in the conference room at DPMS.

9. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
