Northern California Women’s Gymnastics Association Meetings Held Saturday, June 3, 2006 Holiday Inn, Concord
Executive Board Meeting was called to order at 9:45 am by Chairman Perry Siu
Those present were: Perry Siu, Penny Moyce, Patty Shipman, Alexis Shipe, Darcie Hansen, Michael Guzman, Shelley Baker, P.J. Slater, Ben Corr, Josie Rozzelle, Kathy Lopes, Evelyn Paradis, Kim Kor, Jennifer Battaglia, Tharien Bramhall, Brian Loomis, Rod Radunzel.
Treasurer’s Report: Patty Shipman Income: $42.784.49 Expences: $46,228.74
There are outstanding balances from Clubs for Championship awards, State and USAG subsidies. Awards inventory had extra medals (old USAG logo) and dated plaques that were unused. -discussion on what to do with the extra inventory, to be setteled later A system needs to be designed to allow clubs to be more efficient when ordering awards for Nor/Cal championship meets. -Kim and Perry will get together to streamline the ordering process for Zone and State. Zone Championship hosts need to order awards early.
Motion by Mike Guzman to approve a transfer of funds as needed to cover expenses. -Second by P.J. -Passes
State team plaques for individual athletes will be ordered at the State meet. This will be more cost effective and an accurate number can be ordered.
Motion by Mike Guzman to approve the minutes from the November 12, 2005 meeting. -Second by P.J. -approved
State Judging Director Report: Kathy Lopes 1st judging test will be Friday, August 18, 2006, at Sacramento State -Level 5-10
Judges Cup August 19-20, 2006 Level 4-6 Sacramento State
Region 1 Congress will offer all levels of the judging test and films. Friday Level 10 film
1 Saturday Level 8 and 9 film Sunday Written test
Regional Judging Course -held at Region 1 congress -called CORE Classes -Anyone wanting to be at Regional, needs to be at the CORE Classes
USAG State Chairman’s Report: Perry Siu 2007 VISA Championships will be in San Jose in August 2007 -Hosted by the San Jose Sports Authority -Perry Siu, Jennifer Shipman, and Dave Peterson are on the committee -Both Men’s and Women’s competitions will be held
Proposal by Mike Guzman that Nor/Cal bid to host a 2007 Regional Championship in San Jose. -Second by Darcie Hansen -Approved
Everyone should be supporting the 2007 Visa Championship. Hype it up!
Updates: Ben Corr will make the Nor/Cal data base more accessable, so that changes can be made in real time. (ie: P.J. can make changes as necessary). -There will be a login process

Awards Chairman Report: Robert Waroff Holly Balber-Kemp Memorial Award (3 recipients) Angelica Galang Black Diamond Traci Takeda Clovis Elizabeth Norvelle Clovis
PROPSAL 1 NorCal have a Level 4 State Meet to be held the first weekend in December. Gymnast would qualify with a 34.00 All Around at any USAG sanctioned meet held in Region 1, from August 1 through the last Qualifying day for Level 5 of that Season. There will be no Team competition, nor will the competition be used for perpetual trophy points.

PROPSAL 2 Coach and Judges Awards. By one week before the first compulsory state meet, each Zone Rep will discuss with the clubs in their Zone, and nominate at least one person to the following for the Fall Season: COMPULSORY COACH OF THE YEAR Each Zone Reps nominations do not have to be different than other Zone Reps. Ballots will be handed out to each club at the first Compulsory State meet. Ballots will be collected during the meet and will be tallied before the awards for the last session. These awards will be announced at the end of the last Level 5 State session.

By one week before the first optional state meet, each Zone Rep will discuss with the clubs in their Zone, and nominate at least one person to the following for the Spring Season: OPTIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR CHOREOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR DON NELSON MEMORIAL AWARD JAMES WALLACE MEMORIAL AWARD Each Zone Reps nominations do not have to be different than other Zone Reps. Ballots will be handed out to each club at the first Optional State meet. Ballots will be collected during the meet and will be tallied before the awards for the last session. These awards will be announced at the end of the last Level 7 State session.

Clarification: Nor/Cal purchased an additional wireless transmitter for the ProScore system.
Motion by Mike Guzman to add the Level 4’s to the $5.00 per athlete club registration fee. Passed

Approval of minutes from November 12, 2005. Motion to Approve by Mike Guzman Second by P.J. Slater
Treasurers Report: Patty Shipman -This has been a busy Year -Different expenses -New medal inventory (new USAG logo) -Upgrade ProScore w/additional wireless transmitter -Some funds will be transferred from Money Market Account to cover funds (as approved by the Executive Board).
Reminder for get Clubs to get their Registration fees in to their Zone Reps.
State Judging Directors Report:Kathy Lopes -Technical updates are available on the USAG website -Check for changes in Compulsory and Optional requirements

Clubs need to get registrations in on time. Due date is July 31st.

Awards: Robert Waroff Ballots for Optional Coach of the year, Choreographer of the Year, Don Nelson Memorial Award, and the James Wallace Memorial award were passed out at the General Meeting. The awards will be presented at the Fall Meeting.

New Business: Clubs need to include Level 4 athletes in the $5.00 per Athlete registration fee.
Reminder that proposals need to be sent in in writing prior May 1st to be considered for discussion at the Spring meeting.

Proposal to reimburse the video production company (Mike Guzman) for expenses incurred for the sole purpose of presenting the Senior videos at State Championship meets. PASSED
