Guilford Technical Community College – Associate in Applied Science and Certificate in Emergency Management

Guilford Technical Community College is offering an Associate in Applied Science in Emergency Management. The program curriculum is designed to provide students with a foundation of technical and professional knowledge needed for emergency services delivery in local and state government agencies. Study involves both management and technical aspects of law enforcement, fire protection, emergency medical services, and emergency planning.

Program Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the Emergency Management program, the graduate should be able to:

 Perform emergency management critical skills (mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery)  Explain basic functions of emergency services (fire, medical, and law enforcement)  Explain potential impacts of natural and manmade disasters including acts of terrorism on local, state, national and international levels  Demonstrate effective communications skills  Apply critical-thinking and decision-making skills to managing disasters.
