NOTICE OF ELECTION AND NOTICE OF BALLOT ARGUMENTS

DALY CITY MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON LOCAL MEASURE CONSOLIDATED WITH MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR LOCAL OFFICES AND STATEWIDE PRESIDENTIAL GENERAL ELECTION SET FOR NOVEMBER 8, 2016 AND FIXING TIME FOR SUBMISSION OF ARGUMENTS ON CITY MEASURE Public Safety Parcel Tax Ordinance

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a municipal election will be held in the City of Daly City on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 consolidated with the local election for office and the Statewide Presidential General Election at which the following measure is to be voted upon:

Shall the Public Safety Parcel Tax Ordinance imposing a flat tax on each parcel of real property within the City of Daly City at the rate of $162.00 per parcel, per year, for a period of five years, to be billed on the annual property tax bill sent by the tax collector of San Mateo County, thereby generating an estimated $3.8 million annually to restore specific police and fire personnel and related operational costs, be adopted? Yes ______No ______

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that Friday, August 19, 2016 at 12:00 P.M., is hereby fixed as the final date on which arguments, not exceeding 300 words in length, for and against the Measure, may be submitted to the Daly City City Clerk’s Office, 333 90th Street, Daly City for printing and distribution to the voters as provided by law. Pursuant to Elections Code Section 9287, members of the Daly City City Council have decided to submit arguments in favor of the measure and in rebuttal to arguments in opposition to the measure. Elections Code Section 9287 establishes preference and priority in the case of receipt of more than one argument.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that Monday, August 29, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. is hereby fixed as the final date on which rebuttal arguments, not exceeding 250 words in length, may be submitted to the Daly City City Clerk’s Office for printing and distribution to the voters as provided by law.

No more then (5) signatures shall appear on the ballot with any argument. A ballot argument shall not be accepted unless accompanied by the name or names of the person or persons submitting it, or, if submitted on behalf of an organization, the name of the organization and name of at least one of its principal officers.

The 10-Calendar day review period begins August 29, 2016 at 5 P.M. and ends September 8, 2016 at 5 P.M. for Rebuttal Arguments filed in favor and/or against measures and for Impartial Analyses.
